I'm disappointed too, but on the plus side it gives us another date to look forward to, and less time between ordering and when we'll actually get our vehicle.

I thought a few pages ago Milous did confirm that the production date didn't change. Hopefully that is still true.

Yeah, I had the appointment at 9AM this morning on my calendar with my dealer to go in and place my order.

We've since moved it out to Jan 9 at 9AM...

There was something out awhile ago that said Chrysler would start building them in 2013 under license from ZF.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I would love to be one of the first to order one but i really want to see what the changes/differences and options are going to be for each model. A price range for the SRT would be nice as well. Sounds like i might have to wait till the beginning of february.

Yeah, I wonder if Milous will be able to provide us with that info before/when the order banks open, or if we'll have to go into the dealership to find out. I'd prefer the former, that way I don't feel obligated to give a particular dealership my business if I find another one that can get me a better deal.

If that is indeed true than the question is how reliable those trannies are actually going to be.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Are we talking about the ZF 8HP70 too or just the 45? Please explain in more detail of what the word on the street is.

It's actually MORE durable than the standard ZF.

So, no worries!

I did some digging but cannot find anywhere that says what the basic service (apps, remote start, etc) costs per month.

it looks like a free trial of the service is included with the vehicle, which I assume will probably be one year for the Grand Cherokee, but nothing on pricing after that trial expires.

Anyone know anyone who knows anyone who knows what the cost is??
I personally don't even think Chrysler knows what to charge, since it's not published anywhere on their website or UConnect's website. They have to know that people are not going to be thrilled to pay a bill for their cell phone data connection, a fee for Sirius Travelink, and a bill for UConnect Access to use apps like Spotify, which also have a subscription fee.

It will be insanely stupid for UConnect not to give you the option to tether your phone's data connection in order for the apps (Bing, Pandora, etc) to work.

I bet you can't tether though, which is too bad, because my wife's company phone is Sprint, and she'd be better off sitting on the roof of the car using smoke signals to communicate with people on the drive from SC to PA.

I mean, just look at JD Power's 2012 regional rankings for Sprint's network quality:
Northeast: Last
West: 2nd to last
North Central: Last
Mid-Atlantic: Last
Southeast: Last
Southwest: Tied for last

I agree. Sprint isn't *too* bad here in Houston - but AT&T and Verizon are both better. And the fact that work pays for my phone/data would make it even sweeter if I could tether the data connection.

We shall see...

...unless Milous has specific input here

The 845RE has improved clutch packs (vs the ZF 8HP45), and for the Grand Cherokee it will have a larger/deeper oil pan.
