Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

This all makes me think about the starting MSRP of the Summit - I'm pretty sure now that it will be a few grand more than the current one - especially if there are many high-end features standard. Milous even hinted that the harman/kardon *might* be standard.

Guess it will be evenly priced between the Overland and the SRT8 - right in the middle between the two.

Yeah, I mean, do I/we have a choice?

As long as the SRT8 is still the most expensive one, I needn't feel bad about opting for the Summit...

Jeep irked me with the gladiator tease. I know, it's was just a concept vehicle for 2005. Then why did they keep showing the dang thing? I'm ONLY looking at jeep now because of the 3.0l diesel. Durablity and bladder busting range are must haves. I would have preferred a ram, but no diesel available ! And I don't need a 2500/3500. Also i'm just not willing to spend 50 k on any vehicle or really any asset that depreciates as fast as vehicles do.
Not happy that the CRD is only going in limited an ' up '. I would prefer that it would be available as an engine option for the entire line-up.
Chevyboy, snofire, I often think you guys obsess too much over what most would consider minor details. Chevyboy- I don't mean quality, I mean front facia, grills, moldings, wheels, ect. And many of the most active members of this particular thread seem overly concerned with the srt. Now am I missing something? Does the WK2 designation mean only srt? Or is it for grand cherokees, all models? Because after almost three weeks of lurking I still can't tell. Although you all seem to spend an exorbinate amount of time on the srt. I understand that from a business perspective, considering the profit margin on them. But they are not the bread-and-butter model of the grand cherokee. That honor goes to the Laredo and Laredo x.
Marlon, your tibbits have been so engaging that they keep me coming back. I crave more about the crd.
For all the regulars, what is the record for lurkers before succuming to the urge to partiscipate?

(Yes, I know there are more out there with a stronger will than me, and will never reveal themselves.)

Where do I start with this?

You know what, instead of picking this post apart, I'll just say welcome to the forum. I didn't have to work today, I went to church for the first time in months, and I'm looking forward to seeing My Lions get destroyed tonight on national tv. And so I'm having a good day.

However, bc I respect everyone's opinion(s), I feel I should speak to a few things;

1.) You're right, I DO tend to speak on the SRTs quite a bit. Maybe too much to some, like you. But would you like to know why? (Bc in your post I don't see you asking.) Contrary to your belief, it has absolutely NOTHING to do with profit margins and crap, bc nobody here will ever see that money. THIS IS NOT A JEEP FUNDED SITE! And I'm not a saleman. The main reason why I speak to SRTs more, is the same reason you approach the kinda women you approach, buy the sh*t you buy, and do the things you do. That's what I like! The SRT is rugged, yet refined, yet untamed. Just like me. And so I unapologetically have a bias. SECONDLY, the SRT is the most expensive Chrysler outside of the Viper. And so I feel that those here who are placing an order for a '14 SRT8 GC should have the BEST mental picture of what they'll be getting. That isn't to say the others arent as important, bc if that were true, we'd just build SRTs all day. But it's not. The "PROFIT MARGIN" comes from the others. We couldn't survive if all we sold was SRTs. But my point is, someone who orders say a Laredo (as you referenced), and for whatever reason doesn't like it when they see it, can make an exchange or get out of the deal a hell of a lot faster/easier than the SRT guy. Also consider the popularity of the SRT in that there was another thread created just for it. I didn't create it, but bc we ALL like to talk abt them, Scott or Milous decided to segregate it. (Maybe they got the idea from you. )

2.) I do my best to answer ppl's questions abt what I see on the floor, and unclassified info that available to me. I don't have all the answers, and neither do Scott, Marlon, Milous, etc. But we ALL try. But if ppl ask a lot of SRT based questions, well then tuff sh*t buddy! Again, I dont see YOU asking anything about any model/trim in YOUR post! What would you like us to talk about sir???

3.) SnoFire and I spend a lot of time on what most would consider minor details... *sigh* Dude, are you serious? Isn't that the point of a 2014 Features and Changes thread!??? And you just said we talk too much abt the SRTs, yet most of the minor details we talk abt are non-SRT related! So which is it? lol...

4.) Nevermind, I'm done...

I'll tell you what, ask a few questions, and if you get ignored, THEN complain. But when you aren't ignored (bc you won't be), and you remember why you joined the damn site in the first place (after "lurking"), click the link at the top of the page and support those who keep it going.

I have tons of compassion for the less fortunate, but one thing I hate is moochers.. Please don't be moocher. If you own a cpu, and are looking at purchasing a brand new car, AND - learned tons abt said new car on this site, then you have $10 to spare. Period! (<<< This is not for you only, but everyone who's benefitted from this site. Its only right to give.. Sorry if I'm a lil harsh. But it needs to be said.)

Edit: And fyi, WK2 isn't an actual designation. Its used here to distinguished between the current WK and the old WK.

BRB, sending e-mail to Marchionne suggesting a $5000 price increase on the Summit trim level on TOP of what they already came up with.

Ooh, um, ouch.

BTW: During my many travels to body shop yesterday due to assembly running like crap (I like to watch the robots sometimes, and me not being able to find my normal tugger...), I saw your "B" shift counterpart. I also found out that it takes a whole 5 minutes to get over there! Wow!

Oh, and WK"2" is also used by some of our suppliers... so it's not something that just came up on the internet. Don't forget W2 as well.

Milous,

Will the CRD/Hemi 8 speed also have improvements?

The first page of this thread has it listed as a 8hp70 which leads me to believe this trans is built by zf .

Will there be a 870re model built by Chrysler?

Is the elsd on Qd models a zf design? I have been very impressed with zf products over the years.

To offset that, could you have him lower the price on the Overlands? It doesn't have to be the whole five grand.

The answer to your question about improvements, yes.

Eventually, all 8 speed production will be done by Chrysler.

Right now, no...

And I can already tell who it was built by just by looking at it.

And even *IF* Chrysler designated this higher torque capacity version as "7", it would likely be 875RE. "0" is not a valid value. Those numbers do not come from ZF. Also, look back in the thread and check mine and Milous' posts about the Chrysler version (built by ZF or not) being significantly different.
