I think you'll be seeing the Summit around for many more model years, it has been very popular and in fact will be offered in export markets for the 2014 model year. In addition, it will become a "separate" model and no longer a package added to the Overland.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Hi 1st post what a site i have just spend 2+ hours reading this. I am looking to place an order for GC Overland. but now reading thinking of waiting around. I have a couple of Questions.

1.Being from Australia we only have the overland which seems to be more being your Summit then the base overland in the US. Would this be correct?

2. how long does it normally take for a new model to head off sure say to Australia?

A guy i work with has an overland CRD and what a car. the let down is the 5 speed, I hope it comes to Oz sooner rather the later as the lead time for GC in Australia at the moment is 4 months from from order.

Once again Great Great Site. the info on here is second to none.

Thanks for the info, Milous!

Now, if the MY2014 Summit will really be that great, I *might* pull the trigger on one already by the end of next year instead of MY15. After all, life is short..

I would like the tidbit to be that they will offer the 6.4L as an option for the Summit... but I would be 10 levels above "excited" if that actually happened so that can't be it.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

For the towers in here I'd like to ask if Jeep/CJD is going to do anything about the tow rating? an upgraded 7,000lb tow capacity just doesn't really cut it when say a car trailer is 3,000lbs and my car is 3500lbs. I'm at the upper limit here not even counting gear etc. I know we're no longer on a truck chassis, but the competition X5, Touraeg, LR5, and Range Rover all have higher ratings.

WK2 4x4 5.7L with Trailer Tow Group 4 package has a 7200 lb. tow rating and you're only at 6500 lbs. I don't see a problem.

How about an electric emergency brake? And how about an in windshield digital spedometer?

Why? The SRT has all the options that the Summit has. So wouldn't an SRT be the entire package you would want? Plus, a luxury looking chromed out summit would just be weird with all that power. Besides, add the SRT engine to the Summit and prices are right up there where the SRT is now.

Oh yes, a heads-up-display (HUD) would be great. I don't know why so few manufacturers are offering this feature. Had it on a BMW in the past and being able to track my speed without taking my eyes off the road was great.

I agree. And we have to keep in mind that you can't simply throw in such an engine and leave everything else unchanged. I wouldn't feel too comfortable driving a 470HP-vehicle without the matching brakes, suspension etc.

I'm still wondering though what Milous meant when he said that the Summit will be a "seperate" model in the future instead of being a package of the Overland. Does this only mean that the marketing will change (it won't simply be badged as "Overland" any more) or does that mean the entire concept will change (i.e. more exclusive features on the Summit that can't be ordered on the Overland at all).

I guess we'll see but as of today, I can't see clearly yet in that regards..

How do the paddels work with radio controls on the back of the steering wheel? Will these stay?

Thanks milous!
