As a matter of fact, just for reference, google "Ray Laethem Chrysler Dodge Jeep," and see how far it is from your house. There's another dealer not too far from the border that's ok, but Ray Laethem is only like 5 mins from the plant. Maybe they could arrange for you to pick it up here?
When my brother ordered his SRT8 he had our long time friend how works at JNAP push his order through.

My wife suggested I purchase states side if I can't get Summit model here but I wonder about warrenty issues. I heard to warrenty unless you pay $500 or something to Chrysler (if they even let you) to transefer warrenty. Also I'm not sure if I can Import a NEW car. I know you can import older cars, I did my wifes 2002 stratus when we married and she moved here. I thought to import the car has to be at least 6 months old. Not sure though. I'd much rather order a Summit in Canada Hopefully! Maybe SRT8 but the wife will kill me. My brother traded in his 2010 SRT8 for a 2013 Overland becuase he's having his first child and the gas was like 5-600/month. lol. He got the V6.

OK, let me jump in. GCOverland wants a Summit because it offers all luxury- and technology-features BUT still keeps its Jeep-DNA by being off-road capable. Not that GCOverland is actually known for off-roading - but in general, Jeep is.

Although he owned performance vehicles in the past, he shares the opinion that high performance suits a sedan or coupe better than an SUV and if you decide to go with an SUV, you should focus on one that's a true SUV and one that's aimed at the phrase "utility" - like the Jeep Grand Cherokee. But in the end, that's just his opinion and might change at some point in time - perhaps already when pricing on the MY14 line-up is released..
Lol.. Your user name (and others) makes your interests obvious! But I'll add you to my non-existent list!

Little bit about myself. I work at Chrysler WAP. We build the Dodge, Chrysler, Ram Cargo and (VW Routan but not for some time) Minivans.

My brother has had several Jeep Grand Cheerokee's. A 1999? Limited, 2010 SRT8 and now he just purchased the 2013 Overland here in Canada. I am looking forward to purchasing my first Jeep. Hopefully a 2014 Overland Summit, possibly the SRT8 but the wife isn't happy about the SRT8 idea

My question is for Milous or anyone that could answer. Will Canada get the Overland Summit edition? Reason I ask is that the only one offered here when my brother bought his Overland was just the Overland. No Summit. But I do believe the only difference was the chrome mesh grill, chrome tow hooks and fog bezels, olive ash steering wheel. There were some options available but not the ones I just listed. So he came close to what you guys in USA have in the Summit minus some features. Which I found to be disappointing. I would like all the Summit options here in Canada as well.

I will be attending the NAIAS this year after a few years absence. Can't wait to see the 2014's. I just hope that we will finally be able to purchase a Overland Summit edition here in Canada because it wasn't made available here. Otherwise I may have to try and cross border shop(my wife is American) if the Overland Summit edition isn't made available here in Canada. Does anyone know if it will be available here as well as others have stated it will be in Austrailia and Europe?

Thanks guys.
Welcome! You owe back-dues for every month you've been reading without registering. Anyone remember what the penalties are?

I hear ya man.. Well like I said, Milous will confirm the Canada Summit thing, if I'm right.. He's probably just busy hunting down more info right now, or something.

For instance, I know 4jeepdiesel wants a CRD (I suspect he'll probably go with an Overland.. The Summit is TOO fancy for him, but orange, if it somehow makes its way into our paint shop, would look great on an Overland). QuickOne wants another SRT (I'd guess a distinct blue if it became available). bill_de and Temarius are Summit guys, as well as some of our buddies across the pond (although they may not know it yet ). Scooterha is getting an Overland (he doesn't know it yet either.. Maybe another Laredo, but only if its super loaded.), etc.. And Milous - well I don't think he's stated what he'd go for. I'd suspect a black SRT. He's an elder to the site, so he probably likes the refinement of the Summits, yet there's hints of humor and youth in his posts, so he probably still likes to go fast. So a black SRT is a good medium. It's good for the black tie affairs, and it's speed is good for getting the hell out of there when they get boring!
Sounds almost like a wine pairing exercise...

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

With all the tidbits coming out about the differences in the various editions I am more and more on the fence between the Limited and the Overland. I have all the fancy equipment in another car and while I like it I know I can live without it. The better interior color (formerly Saddle) was the only thing I wished the Limited would offer, but if the Overland now has even better interior choices, plus body color keyed trim, and the standard factory navigation it might be worth it to get the other stuff that will likely break in a few years (vent seats, suspension, power tailgate) along with a warranty that covers all of that... Or lease for three years and see how it all holds up then buy it - with a warranty...
I wonder if there is a way to disable the motorized tailgate. Waiting for that thing to come down and latch itself when I can just give it a good slam and be done will drive me nucking futs.

Hummm... Limited CRD or Overland CRD

Yeah, probably a Limited

No, an Overland

I, personally, get hung up on the 20" wheels with the Overland. I prefer more rubber and air between me and the road (and snow) and am leaning towards a loaded Limited...

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

^^ Yeah, I can't believe I'm obsessing about this. I probably won't be able to see, feel and test drive one for another couple of months, not to mention that the car that replaced my WJ is barely a year old so I'll take a bath on depreciation if I sell it next year.
The thing is I really liked the Jeep and I miss the damned thing and I want that CRD if it's as good as everyone who has one says it is.

You don't HAVE to get 20" on the Overland!

As I said, most have an 18" wheel on them. The same wheel is offered on the Limited. I think one of those spy pics shows them.

There's that too. Frequent parallel parking in San Francisco is murder on big rims. More tire for the curb is a good thing there as well as for the snow in the mountains. But those big rims look like they are going to be a nice and clean design. The smaller ones look more convoluted and hard to clean. Dilemma!!!
