Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I was about to pull the trigger on a 2013 Summit until I read about the new tyranny and nav system appearing in the order bank on Jan 9th.

Generally how reliable is this type of information?

If these options are really going to be available in the first few months of 2013 I will wait.

If on the other hand they will not hit the streets until later in the year then I would love to pickup the cool Summit I have been looking at for Xmas.

What say ye???

I chose to focus on the " sport " portion of the phrase. To me, a slow, wallowing cushy SUV isn't a sport utility, but a utility vehicle period. Where is the sport?
I'm just messing with you, but I think of the SUV moniker and laugh at its acronym as I drive by. But any time you want a ride in a SPORT utility vehicle, let me know, and bring clean undies. You won't be let down.
Certainly a valid point.

In the past, I owned an X5 and an M5. All I wanted to say is that it made more sense to me to chose this configuration instead of going with an X5 M and a 550i..

Of course, if you want to have both advantages in one vehicle, you have to compromise on something. What is more important is something everybody has to decide for him/herself.

On a Chrysler 300, I'd opt for the SRT8 - without a doubt..

Not messing with you at all, but how is the SRT in the snow? I live in a mountainous area, not Rockies mountainous but challenging nonetheless. We also get a lot of snow and that's why I choose the Summit over the SRT. I have a Challenger SRT for playing on nice summer days, the Jeep is for winter and crappy weather.

Any SRT guys?

The ordering date might change but the 8 speed and navigation is solid as can be. No worries on it.

No tyranny on JG, but there is some cloak and dagger involved with the tidbits.

Speaking of which, we haven't had a Sunday tidbit!

I have a 2007, which is supposed to be less apt than the WK2 (no special transmission "snow" setting by dialing a knob), and I never was in trouble. I switch to winter tires from December to April and go easy on the right pedal on snow-covered roads.

the 2012+ SRT Jeep also boasts the QT2 4wd system with center and rear ELSD's. Most from the great north have said its a beast in the snow.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I agree. If you can wait for the 14's and the new tranny I would recommend that. So far thats the biggest weakness of the JGC. I had to buy before Dec 31 for tax purposes but if I could wait I would be in a 14 vs 13. For any fellow business owners out there remember the 50 pct bonus depreciation ends EOY.

Well, we have yet to get ANY snow here in MI, so idk, but I imagine now that I've said that, we'll get a blizzard. But when I was first considering buying one back in the spring, I asked the Body Shop manager (who was GIVEN one to drive), how they are in the snow. In short, he says they suck. It's terrible. I asked him if he's tried the "snow" setting, and he said it still sucks. He did say he thinks it's the tires. He got it months before launch, and HAS TO drive it daily, so I thought he'd be a good source of info, as the miles on that joker are creeping up there!

So when I bought mine I figured I'd get an extra set of wheels just for snow tires, yet I have yet to find any I like. (I've got OCD, and I'm extra picky... dont judge me.) But again, we haven't seen an inch. But we'll see.. (Hopefully its just the tires.)
