Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I really want to see that indigo blue interior. What's the earliest we should expect pics to come out?

When that was first mentioned I thought Milous was just funning with us.

From the response here, I guess it's going to be popular.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Any thoughts on gas mileage improvement with the new tranny on a Summit with the V8?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I wonder, how difficult would it be to modify an order after it's been placed but before production has started? Is it even possible without having to cancel the existing order and place a new one?

I'm just worried about picking a color, then seeing more pictures of it when they're released (from the auto show for example) and then changing my mind. Or maybe deciding that I do want that other option package after all...

My dealer just called to tell me he got "clarification" on the 8 speed which he says won't be rolling off the Summit line until September

Is he "misinformed" so I will go for my Summit now?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Yes, he is misinformed about this information. The biggest reason the 13 is so short was because they wanted to get the 8 speed out. I would believe what is on here compared to a dealer who doesn't know much.

If that's a concern, wait until after the show, even if the order banks open Jan. 9.

Do you really have to be the first kid on the block with the new toy? Sure, we all want to be, but only if it's the toy we want.

Scott is right about it being a beast in the snow. I have the all season tires and I have never had any issues on ice or in 10 inches of snow. We have had a total of approximately 22 inches of snow so far this year with one dump being 10 inches. The SRT took it like a champ and had no issues what so ever.

The snow mode makes a huge difference in stop and go traffic and starting off on icy intersections. You definitely notice when you forgot to put it in snow mode.

The only gripe is I wish the SRT would start off in whatever mode was on when the vehicle was turned off.

Any SRT guys?
I have a 2010. The stock good years when new were fine and we had a crapload of snow in 2010. There was a great deal for snowtires for the next winter (Blizzaks DM-V1) and the Goodyears were getting thin, so I opted for those. These tires make the SRT a tank in the snow. Granted, you're not snowbank busting in the SRT (or at least I hope not) as you still are limited in clearance. On the 2012, your clearance is increased by a couple inches, so if you have the ALL SEASON tire, instead of the 3 season which is offered, you should be fine on all but completely unplowed streets with 8-10 inches of snow.

I drove a buddies '12 SRT8 WK2 and I can tell you it really sucked in the snow. Slid all over the place in less than 4" of powder. I'm sure it was the tires, great for performance grip, but completely useless in the snow & ice.
You also can't lift an SRT WK2 for larger snow accumulations like a regular quadra lift WK2.... something to consider with Rocky Mountain snowfall, you definitely made the right choice!
Do you know which tires he had?
Regardless, the width of the 295's are not good for snow. But I'd take an all wheel drive SRT over any rear wheel drive vehicle on the market.

It's actually not that big of a concern, and I don't plan on having to do so. I'm just curious what the process would be, just in case.

Actually, YES!

In all seriousness for me it's not about being the first kid on the block to have it just so I can be the first kid on the block to have it. Trust me when I say that I really, really need a new car. Not necessarily a brand new car per se, but that's what I decided I really wanted.

I've been waiting since around Q4 of last year to buy a WK2. I had originally planned on waiting to buy a 2013 when they were to come out in July of this year because of the 8 speed. But then to my major disappointment it was announced that the 8 speed wouldn't be available until the 2014 MY. I was faced with a dilemma: spend all that money when almost all of the reviews of the JGC were extremely positive, except when it came to the transmission and the acceleration; or, wait another 6 months (which is kind of a long time) for the highly regarded 8 speed, and any other improvements that came along with the refresh. Keeping in mind that I plan on keeping what I buy for at least several years, so I'd have to live with whatever decision I made for a while.

I chose to wait. I just knew that while I'd be super happy to get the Jeep sooner, in the back of my mind I'd always have wished that I waited just a little bit longer for the improvements. I figured I'd already waited a long time so while it would be difficult, I could wait a little longer. (I consider myself a very patient person. Sometimes I think I'm too patient.) I'm very glad I waited because the time has been going by faster than I could've hoped for. This forum has actually made the wait a lot more bearable too, thanks to everyone here and Milous and Scottina, chevyboy, Marlon, et. al. especially for keeping us in the loop, which would be pretty difficult without you guys and this forum.

So there's my story and here I am, counting down the days until the order banks open, and then I'll be counting down the days 'till production starts, then I'll be counting down the days 'till my vehicle is built (I just bought a subscription yesterday so I'll be able to track it and get the build sheet too -- and support this place too), then I'll be counting down the days 'till it's finally delivered.
