Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

In some years the GTO was an option, others a seperate model. Car was the same, just accounting.

I just leave it in drive. BTW Nissan has a CVT with their 3.5l engine.

Interesting that it was mentioned that all '14s will have the 8-speed since the current 8HP45/845RE is only rated for about 331 lb-ft of torque. So either Chrysler is planning on a second variant (8HP70) or the American diesel will be somewhat derated.

Chrysler will be using the 8HP70. See below what I copy and pasted from the front page of the thread....

- New: 8-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters (8HP45 w/3.6L)

- New: 8-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters (8HP70 w/3.0L diesel, 5.7L and 6.4L)

So Milous, I am just guessing here, but is the Summit going to fill the price void between the Overland and SRT8? (i.e. sensibility and insanity)

Is the possible price structure as follows?

$42K - Limited (4X4 with 5.7L)
$46K - Overland (4X4 with 5.7L)
$55K - Summit (4x4 with ??)
$65K - SRT8 (N/A 6.4L)
$75K - SRT8 Special Edition (6.2L Supercharged)

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

My excitement and anticipation for the 2014 GC Summit CRD seems to grow with each passing hour but would take a serious step backward should a mid-fifties price point prove real. So long as the first digit is a "4", I'm in and will place an order as soon as the banks are open. At "5" plus---it's much more difficult to justify.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Milous, please respond if you can. Concerning the 2014 GC, do you know if the Start/Stop system will be standard/available on the V6 8-speed? Also, do you think there's any chance Jeep will offer a customer the choice of 4-wheel system throughout all the models available? (excluding the SRT), For example, make it possible to order Q-t1 in a Limited or Overland? (For folks who will never go off road, and are just looking for a little snowy road security, plus a little lighter, maybe more fuel efficient, less bells and whistles type of AWD.) Thankyou for your time and insightful input. Oh, one other coment if I may, I would love to see Jeep offer that Radar Red interior that's available in certain models of the 300 and Charger! Thanks again!

Is there any talk of doing away with the foot park brake? I dont see why they all cant be a button now-a-days. It would be nice, it's the only thing I dont like about the MY12/13.

You do have a shift lever. Personally I like having a way to stop and steer even poorly that does not rely on any electrics or computers since we can't eject..

If things will be like in Europe where the Summit is already more like an extra model the differnce to the Overland should be much lower. In Germany it is about 2,150 USD (Hemi). If you deduct the extras which are also available on the Overland it's even less (about 1k less).

Just FYI a Hemi Overland is about USD 79k in Germany, I'm jealous!

Paddles are mounted separately from the radio controls. I believe they will be available on all models, standard on the upper trim levels.

I don't believe that you will see much if any change in the price spread from what it is now. The Summit will still have the Overland badge, I believe they are cataloging it as a separate model for marketing and inventory/sales tracking purposes. A 6.2SC variant has not been green-lighted, it is definitely not on the production schedule for the initial launch, and if they do decide to bring it out it would be later on in the 2014 model year or beyond. The Challenger/Charger/Barracuda will be the first vehicles to get the 6.2.

E-brake is the same for 2014. Have not heard of any plans for windshield display, at least not in the next model year or two.
