Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Test drove a Summit today, awesome beautiful vehicle, but based on the soon to be available 8 speed tranny and giant nav screen info found here will be waiting for 2014!!! Thanks JG!

Will there be any new/different options or packages for the Summit I need to be aware of when telling my dealer what to be ready to load into the order bank on Jan 9t?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Then it is maybe time for another tidbit

Maybe something for the poeple outside the states who are not familiar with other chrysler products? Can we for instance get some information on the 7 inch screen behind the steering wheel (resolution etc?). This feature sounds interesting to me and we don't have dodge darts here in Europe since you guys are always referring to it.

I'm not sure about headliner colors, Chevy or Marlon would have to answer that one.

I don't have confirmation one way or the other, "color" information on export models is sometimes difficult to get in advance, and in most cases is probably still under final review.

It depends if they decide to feature it in the press images, and if they decide to have it at the unveiling.

No worries.

When ordering is opened, your dealer will have a list in front of him of every option package. That list will appear here on JG as well.

That's the current plan, but interior colors are easy for Jeep to alter/change at any time. They're still dotting i's and crossing t's as we speak.

Yea, I was kidding. And thanx for not hating me. lol

I was just curious as to when you think we could potentially see any '14 special editions, SRTs in particular. I still haven't seen any caution-taped engine racks over in Assembly, so I'd guess sometime in Q3 if anything does get launched this year.

Oh, and sidenote; Have you heard anything about any '14 WDs being built for NAIAS? We just ran a few WD pilots toward the end of the shift, and I was just curious as to whether they're being built for the show, or if they're just beginning testing them. (Or both!) This is the first bunch I KNOW of.. There was a rumor a while back that 1 was built, but I never saw it. If these are for NAIAS, I may be able to catch a glimpse of one, but if they're just early pilots, they'll probably get the covers and zebra treatment.

Actually, YES!

In all seriousness for me it's not about being the first kid on the block to have it just so I can be the first kid on the block to have it. Trust me when I say that I really, really need a new car. Not necessarily a brand new car per se, but that's what I decided I really wanted.

I've been waiting since around Q4 of last year to buy a WK2. I had originally planned on waiting to buy a 2013 when they were to come out in July of this year because of the 8 speed. But then to my major disappointment it was announced that the 8 speed wouldn't be available until the 2014 MY. I was faced with a dilemma: spend all that money when almost all of the reviews of the JGC were extremely positive, except when it came to the transmission and the acceleration; or, wait another 6 months (which is kind of a long time) for the highly regarded 8 speed, and any other improvements that came along with the refresh. Keeping in mind that I plan on keeping what I buy for at least several years, so I'd have to live with whatever decision I made for a while.

I chose to wait. I just knew that while I'd be super happy to get the Jeep sooner, in the back of my mind I'd always have wished that I waited just a little bit longer for the improvements. I figured I'd already waited a long time so while it would be difficult, I could wait a little longer. (I consider myself a very patient person. Sometimes I think I'm too patient.) I'm very glad I waited because the time has been going by faster than I could've hoped for. This forum has actually made the wait a lot more bearable too, thanks to everyone here and Milous and Scottina, chevyboy, Marlon, et. al. especially for keeping us in the loop, which would be pretty difficult without you guys and this forum.

So there's my story and here I am, counting down the days until the order banks open, and then I'll be counting down the days 'till production starts, then I'll be counting down the days 'till my vehicle is built (I just bought a subscription yesterday so I'll be able to track it and get the build sheet too -- and support this place too), then I'll be counting down the days 'till it's finally delivered.
Amen to that. !

@gigi_boy_156 I can look into that on Friday.. Marlon may be able to get you that info before then, but I think it's brown suede.
