It doesn't really matter if you like the tail lights. When you're driving you don't see your tail lights. But whether or not you buy a '14 somebody will. And, when your stuck in traffic you will still have to look at the ones in front of you.

So, get your order ready for next month.

chevyboy_711 and Marlon, you guys are fabulous!!!
Thanks for your info about the headliner. If it's in fact made in brown suede, I will order the Summit as soon as possible here in Switzerland.

By the way... yesterday, I spoke to a dealer. He told me, that he will get the MY '14 GC in February with the 3.0 Diesel engine! 😉

I'm sorry, but calling someone at a car dealership a salesman, is no different than saying someone at the mall is a salesman. A true salesman goes after the sale; they don't sit around and wait for it to walk through the door.

The discussions on the various aspects of the '11-'13 (WK2.1) vs '14 (WK2.2 or is it WK3.0?) have certainly informed my still-developing decision about which version to purchase. I am currently of the mind that hardware/capability is 80% of the decision, and 20% = aesthetic/lines. Of course checkbook considerations enter in, too, but it's really only money. Right? Despite my best efforts to focus on the 80%, what keeps nagging at me are the redesigned tail lights/gate.

There is ample deserved talk about the front end/head lights: the tape, the plastic filler, eyes that move, LED v. Xenon, but I'm coming around to the new look -- well at least what we've been shown and been asked to imagine is the final product sans electrical tape/velcro. The 11-13 grille is solid/mean/sturdy, but the 14 has an "Iron Man" shadow in there. But it's going to be a wait-and-see-then-determine what looks best kinda deal. With the tail lights, however, it would appear we know what we're getting and I just can't help thinking somebody took the old tracing paper out and put together a Subahyunkiord design that they wanted to slap on the rear end b/c it's just cheaper to go with what others are doing.

When the vehicle is standing still, I gravitate toward the front end of the JGC. It looks like it can handle whatever is in front of it. But when I'm driving, I'm not really paying attention to the front end of the cars in my rearview, I'm forced to look at the kiesters of the cars in front of me sitting in traffic and frankly I don't like the fact that the Tribeca looks like the Santa Fe looks like the Sportage looks like the Escape, and now the JGC.

After plowing through this thread over the last few weeks, with a bourbon and/or scotch assist at some points along the way, this is where I've ended up -- b*tching about tail lights. But it's my "electical tape". Appreciate any thoughts.

I have a question....what Scotch helped you formulate your thoughts?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Hey Chevy,

I believe you mentioned that this Friday was the last day of work/production for you guys for a couple weeks, is that correct?
If so, since we're notsurewhat and notsureweir Milous actually is would you venture to guess that he will continue to post tidbits during the break?
I'd ask him now but I don't see that he's online. Maybe he is but under another name....wait a minute! What if Milous and Marlon and even you for that matter are the SAME person!!! I've never seen all of you in the same place at the same time!

Hmmmm....

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Lol.. Saturday is the last day. And Milous is probably getting his usual 1/2 hr of sleep right about now. I swear that guy recharges like a cell phone. If he gets a solid hour of sleep a day, I'd be surprised! I thought I was a robot! Geez!!!

I presume Milous will have another at-bat or two before the 9th.

I'm no connoisseur, but I stick to what Speyside has to offer.

Saw the Altitude before it was the Altitude at last year's DC show and hung around it like it was the SR-71. Great job on design and it's a reason I am going JGC over Explorer Sport.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

For Milous:
The 2014 (or next GC generation) will have something like "servotronic" and active suspension dumping?
Thanks,
Franco
