Yes, the 8speed will be at launch. That is 1 of the reasons for the short 13MY.

Many thanks, JC. This is what confuses me. Gigi correctly said that if Jeep is to take on the Touareg, they need to do the real stuff. However, your Natura quote points at ARTIFICAL LEATHER looking like the real stuff.

This may be good for a heavy-duty construction site pick-up but doesn't fit the top-of-the line SUMMIT. I cannot believe that Jeep would be doing this. SUMMIT with vinyl leather: That would cancel my SUMMIT order, even if it would look exactly like real leather.

PLEASE: Milous, Marlon, Chevy & friends: Can you clarify this? Is NATURA PLUS LEATHER for the Jeep GC SUMMIT a high grade of real leather, or is it indeed an artifical "look like leather" product as described by JC?

I hope not. Doubt it. If it isn't real leather forget the summit order.

If I was a salesman, I wouldn't touch this question with a 10' pole! But bc I'm not, I'll give my honest opinion of this;

1.) If "Natura Plus Leather" was some cheap second rate bs, they would've found a better way to decieve people into thinking it was still quality genuine leather. They wouldn't explicitly say, "hey look at this bs here!"

2.) Googling "Natura Plus Leather" provides many hits for the '12 Ram. Which means Chrysler has already used this before, and obviously found it sufficient enough to broaden it's application.

3.) '11-13 has/had REAL Nappa leather. Why the heck would they sacrifice on quality to save a buck? However, if quality, feel, comfort, etc. aren't compromised, and durability actually EXCEEDS that of genuine leather, then why not save a buck?

4.) The current seat cushions are already made from recycled polyurethane foam, so it wouldn't surprise me if the whole idea is a part of saving the environment or something, and NOT compromising to cut costs.

5.) Sergio is all about quality.. Chill folks.

6.) This pdf hasn't been certified by Milous yet as correct on this front in particular, as well as the Export LED Laredo lights thing. I'll look for an export Laredo here in a couple hours, but if they do have LEDs in them, I can tell you they wont look the same as the others bc the housing is different. (Refer to my last HL post.)

7.) If the pdf DOES prove to be true, and this is a deal-breaker for anyone, I apologize on behalf of everyone at ChryFi for wasting months of your life in anticipation of a vehicle you wont even buy....... However, I hope you at least take one for a test drive before making a final decision against it. Even if you don't order Jan. 9th.

Well said Chevy,

I don't think ChryFi would opt for an inferior seat trim given the attention to detail on the rest of the Jeep ....... Forgive me but it sounds a bit childish ..." If I can't have strawberry flavor I don't want any ice cream."

I think I'd be waiting for launch and then make a judgement.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Almost sounds like Pleather (not plastic and not full leather). If it looks the same, feels the same, more durable, and is cheaper....What is not to like?

Either way, this won't deter me and Jeep from ordering on Jan 9th!

Sno...100% Polyurethane Surface With 95% Rayon 5% Polyester Backing is not "not full leather". It's plastic that hasn't even been near a cow. I can't imagine this is what they are going to use on a Summit. must be a mistake. Does anyone know if the Overland is actual leather?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Durability would be concern to me. I'm planning to keep the car for some time and my experience with this "fake leather" is that initially is great but after X years it stiffens and cracks. I can see this happening in my current car and I can see exactly where they were trying to cut cost and used "fake leather". You can feel it and see it.

According to the PDF they would offer NAPA Leather on Overland and this fake leather on Summit. Just doesn't add up so I'm thinking ... let's wait for official info before we make any judgments.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Here is the Napa leather in the Overland;

Nappa leather or Napa leather is a full-grain leather, typically dyed, made from unsplit kid-, lamb- or sheep-skin by tanning with salts of chromium or aluminium sulfate, and noted for softness and durability. It is often used in high-quality leather products such as high-end furniture and vehicles.

They can't be using something inferior in the Summit. Let's wait for details!
