Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Let's keep in mind that the previous definition posted was about "Natura Leather" and that the RAM and Summit will obviously getting "Natura Plus Leather" so it might be possible that Natura Plus is indeed real leather.

Otherwise, calling it a "full-leather" would def. be an issue.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

wait, cows get spared so we get more durable interior?

I don't like this at all. Cows must be sacrificed.

:/

I'm fine with this imitation leather myself, 2014 SRT coming my way soon.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Its like Alcantara and real suede. Alcantara is a synthetic suede that is way more durable than real suede. I'd rather have something in my car that cost 55k+ that is going to outlast leather. But also like GCOverland said "Natura Plus Leather", I too think there is a major difference. If it turns out it is real leather than great, but if it turns out its a synthetic material then that should mean they are putting a more durable and luxurious material in the Summit than any other model in the lineup. I don't think people realize we're moving to an age where everything is plastic I remember in the late 80's early 90's when cars were 100% steel and got 28mpg to the gallon lol. Now our cars are covered in nearly 65% or more with some form of plastic and get 13mpg. I just think it means Jeep is taking the Summit to the next level of "new luxury" nothing to worry about.

The manufacturer of Natura Leather shows 2 types. One has a cotton backing and one has a polyester backing. None of their products seem to have a cow backing.

Mercedes charges more for their leather option, so this is probably, at least in part, a cost cutting measure.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Looks like Jeep isn't the only vehicle with the black filler piece. (which I know is a headlamp washer). I cant find anywhere on the GMC site where the black filler piece on the Acadia Denali is functional though.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

It is clear to me from the pdf that the Summit will have an even better look and feel than the overland. And if someone in the indutry knows how to make nice interior it's Fiat. I owned an Alfa with much nicer interior (inlcuding the leather) than any competitor. We don't even need to discuss Maserati etc. So I have no doubt that this stuff will be cool since I guess this is certainly one area where there is a good corporation within FIAT/Chrysler. And I don't care how and from what base material it is produced. For me FIAT and Chrysler is a perfect combination but this maybe a view from a very European angle.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Chrysler is using the same leather (natura leather) for the Ram Laramie Longhorn, their top Ram model. I looked up a discussion with a RAM company guy on a You Tube clip, where he is describing the leather quality in the truck as top grain leather. (see/hear comment on You Tube at time 32:00). I guess he would not talk about premium grade top grain leather if it would not be a real leather. Anyway, let's see.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I was just looking at the Dodge Ram website. Jeep needs to grab some of those colors. Like the black gold, copperhead pearl coat, flame red, the prairie color the western brown.. list goes on...

I disagree with you 100%. Black and white and and beige and 50 shades of gray are the only colors that belong on a Jeep.

Very interesting video and great car I noted in the video that the RAM has the 7 inch disply between the gauges too. It is also much nicer integradted than in the Dart. Can anyone who have seen the close to final product say whether such screen is also integrated nicely/in a similar way in the GC?
