Make that major feature position the GC as THE SUV and it's just a matter of picking the right color combination. Functionality trumps a LOT.

How about it? What are the numbers?
There is another thread on the speculation on what the MPG will be with the 2014 models at 2014 Grand Cherokee - MPG? Let the speculations begin!

I am guessing 26 City and 35 Highway in the CRD!

You guys are crazy for thinking the CRD will get that.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Why is that Snofire? With the 5 special it get 28 combined with 34 highway. So with the 8 speed it stays in the 1500 rpm range which is the sweet spot for fuel economy for the engine. And with diesel fuel having the higher thermal energy capacity then gasoline, YouTube less fuel. Which means higher fuel economy. And I only gave about a 10% increase not 20% like they are saying the 8 speed will give us.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

HAVEN'T posted in a very long time. Is the 34 highway on European standards? Its been talk of 30 hwy I thought. For the CRD IM thinking 30-32 is more reasonable for EPA standards. Maybe 22-24 for and about 27-28 . This is still best in class. Even the V6 and Baby hemi, as I like to call it, will deliver best in class mpgs as I

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Well how about this. My wife's 2011 Caravan gets about 27-33 mpg on the highway depending on if the whole family is in the van or just one or two people. That has a V6 gaser with the 6 spd. Now the CRD will have two more gears to keep the rpm's down and it is going to use less fuel then the van. And it weighs a whopping 23 lbs more. So REAL life highway driving mpg is quite possible to have in the 30's.

Keep researching... the goal of the CRD is to get 30 highway... its not going to be any higher. Your high if you think 38 is doable. Its not.

I'm not so sure that the it's final drive that provides the substantial jump in mileage so much as it is the efficiency in shifts throughout the gears. Undoubtedly final drive will lower the rpms from the current 5 and 6 spds, but not as drastic as you'd think. It's the extremely low (high) gearing in 1-2 and transition through 4-6 that'll increase mileage most. At least that's how it's geared in the Ram.

The great folks of JG Web site chose to prominently display the red SRT8 as its 'badge' at the top of each page. That machine is great looking in that color! Must be a reason you all chose it as the header each time somebody clicks on the site.

I'm sold on the Deep Cherry and I'm glad 88% of the rest of the Jeeps in the world are different.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Never said 38 in any of my posts for mpg. I said 34, which is a real world number since the EPA plays with the throttle like a 4 year old on monster energy drink. Hit 65mph or even 70mph and watch the mpg hit 34.
That is why man invented CRUISE CONTROL it saves fuel.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

This may have been answered in one of the 90 pages in this thread lol but i'll ask it again.

When will these actually be delivered if you order one for production in Jan/Feb? I recently totalled my 09 Overland and would like one, but I'm not sure i can wait an entire year for the 14's.

Didn't say 38 at all, how about 12 minutes before. Man, you need to go back and read stuff. What the European CRD is not what the US version will get. This has been discussed long ago. So please go back and read.

I don't think we are saying the maybe a low 30's isn't possible, but 38 is a very very far stretch. You can't compare a van to a jeep, 2 different vehicles and aerodynamics.

If you order on Jan 8th ( if it doesn't change) and production still starts on Jan 22nd, we should be looking at sometime in Feb. for delivery.
