Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

In my time zone its 24th of December already, and Santa is near also here in the tropics.

I would like to wish all members of this forum and especially its never tiring moderators and supporters, to mention Marlon, Chevy, and Milous, MERRY CHRISTMAS.

Thank you for coping with all our always well meant but sometimes crazy comments, questions, and suggestions.

Will we find tidbits under our Christmas tree?

I'm dreaming that next year it can be a picture of a 2014 CRD in the Sierras.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Did anyone get a definative answer about the use of Natura Leather? I emailed Chrysler about its use in the Ram. This is the reply;

" Please be advised that the Leather seating within the Ram lineup is considered real genuine leather."

Not sure why they couldn't say it is.

My understanding is that for leather to be considered real, it has to come from an animal. I found the following information at the link below:

"Durable polyurethane alternative to leather and PVC Vinyl material"

http://www.naturaleather.com/vinyl.html

OUCH! Upon searching further, I found that JC 0105 already posted this link, in post 4237. My apologies!

Polyvinyl chloride, commonly abbreviated PVC, is the third-most widely produced plastic, after polyethylene and polypropylene.

Vinyl chloride is the organochloride with the formula H2C:CHCl. It is also called vinyl chloride monomer, VCM or chloroethene. This colorless compound is an important industrial chemical chiefly used to produce the polymer polyvinyl chloride (PVC).

In the early 1970s, the carcinogenicity of vinyl chloride (usually called vinyl chloride mononomer or VCM) was linked to cancers in workers in the polyvinyl chloride industry. Specifically workers in polymerization section of a B.F. Goodrich plant near Louisville, Kentucky (US) were diagnosed with liver angiosarcoma also known as hemangiosarcoma, a rare disease.[32] Since that time, studies of PVC workers in Australia, Italy, Germany, and the UK have all associated certain types of occupational cancers with exposure to vinyl chloride, and it has become accepted that VCM is a carcinogen.[4] Technology for removal of VCM from products have become stringent commensurate with the associated regulations.

You know what would really suck, even more than no orange at all?

1) If they don't come out with an orange for the 2014s, but do for the 2015s.
2) If orange is announced as a color option, but with the caveat that it won't be available until several months after the 2014s start being built (I've already waited long enough and wouldn't be willing to wait for it.)

You and Diesel with your orange Jeeps. You must be from Philly!

Slow news day today so let me be the first on this thread, at a whopping 4500 posts, to wish each and every one of you a wonderful and safe holiday with family and friends.

My special thanks to our friends at the factory, Milous, Chevy, Marlon, and everyone else whose interest and tidbits contribute so much to the site and our interest in these wonderful Jeeps. Hopefully you're enjoying some well deserved time off!

Merry Christmas, and Thank You.

Sweet ride though. I've always liked the Mini Cooper and your particular one is especially cool looking.
