Thanks Pat! That's really good news. I think the TFT is a great idea and generally I think the Jeep/Chrysler/Dodge solution is a really good one. But if they get i wrong, i.e. poor resolution and do not integrate it nicely it would really suck as you look at this thing all the time. While I think that the Dart solution works for the Dart very well I think it would not be good enough for a Jeep GC. But it sounds like they got it absolutely right. I really love this feature

Another question about that car... do you remember about the part between the seats... is it still the same cheap plastic or sweet real brushed Aluminium?

Thanks,

Gigi
According to the pdf you posted I'm pretty sure that at least the plastic is a better quality. In addition if you look at the Pictures in the pdf you can get the Impression (despite of the poor quality) that the silver parts are gone. Although I did not think that they were to bad.

I know this is the 2014 thread but what unique things have they done for prior "anniversary" years such as the 65th and so on?
Look up on google the 65th anniversary and then the 70th... the 70th was hot but I didn't know I liked the new body style yet I now love the olive color interior it had but I wanted brand new when I bought mine and I wasn't doing used. Anyway the 70th is purty in the Bronze star pearl and Silver grrrrowl!

I know that Milous and Marlon & Chevyboy work at the plant and see things first hand but other people have given tidbits and information that sometimes are spot-on but sometimes conflicting with what those on the inside have said. The above post is just one example of this (not to pick on or single out Scottina at all it's just that's the most recent one and I've been wondering about this for some time).

I guess all I'm saying is it's confusing and I have no idea where these others are getting their insider info if they don't work at or for Chrysler.
There's gotta be a mole somewhere, right?
Usually it's a case of different ppl saying the same thing in different ways. There is a lot of misinformation, but this isn't one of those instances.

The inscription I spoke of months ago was answered by Marlon and I think QuickOne.. Marlon posted a pic of what it says, and QuickOne guessed the wording a couple posts later. But that whole pic was NOT meant to show exactly what the inscription looks like. Yes there are words, and yes there's a grille and lil headlights.. Everybody's right.

More narrowly, what you're talking about is a problem that comes in when info isn't verified, and the occasional poster or new member comes along and reads it, and thinks its the gospel and we all agree on it. Which isn't typical.

Lets take wheels for example, bc that's a conflicting issue right now. Theres not an ounce of doubt in me that what I've seen thus far is what will be launched. HOWEVER, others have spoken of "different" wheels on different trims, and this too may be true. Bc '14 will be an 18mo run, and many things WILL come later. For instance, I know of another wheel in particular that I havent spoken on, bc I don't know exactly what it belongs to, but someone else may have heard of this wheel, and posted abt it, confusing ppl with what will be available at launch. Make sense? And if someone sees/heard abt one with say, triple-gold spoke Dayton's, who am I to say they're wrong!? Everybody has a source. Sometimes they're credible, sometimes their info changes, and they look like they weren't credible. It's just the nature of the industry. This is why I've made it a point to constantly recheck myself on things I've posted to see if any corrections need be made. Somethings will come later, like in CY '14, yet still being a MY '14. Some things just got canned, and sources don't always get back to whoever and let them know. It all comes down to who's talking to who, what they really know, and how much they care abt getting things right.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I don't understand why Jeep doesn't make a Grand Cherokee that is fully loaded (in appearance and tech) but without chrome and wood, unless you go to the SRT, but that is really expensive and not everyone needs that much power. Also, they don't even offer Black. Brilliant Black is not black. C'mon Fiat/Chrysler/Jeep, get with it.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Reading dreadful owner experiences with the GC leather quality, mainly in posts regarding 2011 - mid 2012 GCs up to Summit level. Seat covers having had to be replaced after just a few thousand miles because of fading & cracking. Seems to be/have been a widespread problem with a badly processed leather or just a cheap leather quality.

Was quite shocked to read this after I had just recently raised the leather issue ("Natura Plus Leather"?) in an earlier post.

Any positive/negative owner experiences with the MY 2013 leather seats?

I made a reservation for a MY2014 Summit but I will need to see some positive information/feedback from owners/dealer/Jeep/Chrysler about the leather quality before I would execute an order.

Problems read seem to point to short-sighted cost-saving, and should not happen with a >$85k car (EU export model).

Chrysler seems to have replaced the seat covers under warranty, which seems to indicate it had become a known issue in 2011/2012 and that Chrysler should have taken countermeasures (better quality, other vendor) by now.

Waiting for our experts and interested owners to comment. May be not the most important issue but seats are a dominant visual object in a car's interior.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Guennik - then you might be best to make an actual thread about this instead trying to get people to answer in this thread. People who have a 2013 might not read this or want to read all the posts. You have to think that not everyone who has the leather has or had this issue. How many Jeeps are out there with this Leather that don't have a problem don't go out and post about it.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

FWIW - I currently have an '11 Acura and belong to a forum dedicated to the MDX. There were a number of complaints about leather on the MDX. The difference seems to be that the dealers had to fight with Acura to get replacement under warranty.

When I traded an '07 Liberty Limited, the used car manager said he couldn't believe how good the leather looked on a 4 year old vehicle.

I guess not all cows are created equal, not even from the same herd.

Agreed. I've been saying that for years. Really not a fan of the wood and never have been and I'm on my 3rd Jeep.
