Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

In Europe people donīt care whether they have DPF or urea systems. Usually the cleaning cycles run without noticing. If you are close to a clogged DPF, you get a warning light suggesting to go for 10 to 15 miles on a highway at higher speeds (40-50mph)(Never occured to me in over 160k miles on diesel/DPF cars)
However, the DPFs need to be replaced, but tahts usally only after 120k miles or more...

Good luck

Achim

Current US restrictions are tighter than European restrictions which are currently in place. However, if a carmaker introduces a new model they aim at Euro 6, the next upcoming European standard, which is also fine from a US perspective. To comply with current US restrictions AND Euro 6 you need DEF.

I still believe that the hemi engineers could have easily made updates to the WK2's hemi to match the Rams power and torque rating. I bet they do for 2015 to have something new to offer.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

They made a bunch of stuff to hold back power not just for mileage but to save the drivetrain as well. My 2002 Jeep with the 4.7HO is significantly faster than my 2011 with the Hemi. Some of that is due to weight.... but most is the drive by wire crap. Newer Jeeps (less SRT) launch like crap.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Anyone have a best guess estimate at the MPG increase for the V6 in the new 2014's? My wife and I test drove a MY 2012 Overland with the V6 this past weekend and she fell in love with it. The sticker said 17 city and 23 highway. I am curious as to what the sticker will say on the window of a 2014 with the V6 and the new 8 speed tranny? Maybe 20 & 28???

Excellent forum by the way. This particular thread is very informative. I have never owned a Jeep, so all of the input in this thread has been a big help.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

The transmission itself is supposedly 14% more efficient then the out going tranny.

Now how that actually applies in the GC, not sure...

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Thanks for the responses guys. While driving the 2012 Overland the other night I was not impressed by the current Navigation system at all. It looked like a Fisher-Price model compared to the one in my 2011 F-150. That was really the only negative I found with the current GC's. Sounds like the one Jeep is putting in the 2014 MY is going to be about 25% larger and much nicer. Do you guys know if this particular Nav system is already in any current Chrysler vehicle? Would also like the option to add 20" chrome wheels over the polished aluminum. But hey, I like the polished aluminum anyway. Would just like the option to add the chrome ones.
