Long time creeper, first time poster. Just had a sinking feeling reading and seeing the above. The loss of the flipper glass would be a huge disappointment. I'm holding out hope it dowsn't have a handle because it flips out under power...

Good idea to look at the spy shots for the handle. I just spent a few minutes comparing 2012 rear hatch pictures to the angles available in spy shots for the 2014. Even on the 2012, the handle seems a bit hard to see (it's tucked away under the lip above the license plate) so you kinda need an angle from below to actually see it. Then again, I don't have the car sitting in my garage like you to be able to recognize it when I see it. I'm hoping it's just hidden under that lip, but I'd be surprised if they have a different part / wiring for this relatively small (but very useful) feature.

I agree the flipper glass is very handy, we have had on the last two cars and it was something that was on out list when looking for a new car. The Jeep was one of the only other cars we found with this. Hopping it is just SRT and not the other 'Family' wagons.... As many have said, you have a lot of stuff and stuff falls out...

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Could there possibly be an electric flipper release?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

the hinges and rubber seal must not weigh more than say 1kg-2kg, 2-4lbs.. seems pointless to reengineer/re-tool to save so little ?
was there dust ingress problems ? maybe other motivations, cheaper to produce too i guess over tens of 1000's of units.

Milous,

concerning about your two pictures from the Overland and Summit means, that the Flipper-Glas for both is over!!!

So it's not only the SRT - all GC loose it!

Under "How it Works" it says:

Take the Control Number, along with your Access Fund membership card to any participating U.S. Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Ram dealership or FIAT studio. Once the dealership verifies the Control Number, you can choose from any eligible new Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Ram or FIAT vehicle and receive the 'Preferred Price' (1% below factory invoice plus a $75.00 administration fee). You may contact participating dealers for complete program rules.Note: Dodge Viper and all SRT models are ineligible

Is the Tread Lightly program the same... No SRT??? I almost jumped on this program... but with all the new SRT info I am thinking of going that way again and if it can't be used to buy an SRT then I will hold off joining for now.

Thanks for posting the pics. I guess I mistakenly thought the window release was located somewhere else - didn't realize it's the nub below the wiper hinge.

No flipper glass is pretty disappointing. Not a deal breaker for me, but probably the biggest let down so far for me (more so than the black honeycomb washer covers). C'est la vie.
