Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

My last comment tonight (have to attend an important meeting)- there is no doubt that Jeep is showing the world that it can design and build a world-class vehicle, but who is behind the original design and now the refresh? What I mean, was Mercedes engineers a large factor in the WK2 or was it American/Canadian engineers who were allowed to be free to design a great vehicle? Same with the refresh, is Fiat playing a big role or is it the same team? Where I am going with this (I hope the answer is Jeep engineers) it shows the great capacity that the US and Canada have to design and build quality products for a world economy.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

"So Scooter...are you going to get one now??"

The "other" saw the front end and the new head lights and loves it. I still dont like the grille but I am intrigued by the Indigo interior. We were going to wait and get the new Cherokee/liberty whatever the hell it is but the other decided this; "with a new smiley face on the front why do we need to see what the other Jeep is going to look like".
So with that being said we'll most likely have my 2012 and a white Mario stached Overland with the Indigo/brown interior. I said if we're getting this I'm picking the interior haha.

Phil Jansen and some of the same engineers that did the wk2 in 2011 are behind this beauty. They have all worked on Jeeps most of their careers.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I'll wait till I'm on the highway my self on my way to Raleigh to see the highway mpg. I've seen the test data of the EPA efficiency test and don't trust them. They play with the throttle to much. It is more of Highway traffic in Chicago, NYC, and L.A. during rush hour. I've seen my Marauder get better then the EPA's rating on the highway (when I'm not on the throttle of course).

If history with most all turbo diesels is correct, the CRD will beat those MPG figures, my 03 VW was rated at 45, I never get below 47, the new Passat is rated 43, gets closer to 50...brother in laws Beemer X5D gets 30 with a 5 speed. I'll predict closer to 34-35 on highway....

True, but I'd hate to find out it's like the radios where you can't upgrade after the initial build.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Here is what I found after sometime on Google. Depending on which trans they used in the WK2 CRDs across the pond, the five speed either had a .67 5th in the 545REF and a .83 5th in the Benz 5G-TRONIC. Now the ZF-8HP70 has a .667 8th gear. Thinking the EPA screwed the pooch on this one for the fuel economy. But they always underrate diesels so we look to gasers instead. Just my 2 cents.

You could probably buy 4 Ipad's for the price they are going to charge you for the Tv's in the headrest. At least with the Ipads you can take them with you. . When I did the math for the entertainment system for my 2012 MDX it was just cheaper to throw an ipad in my daughters hands loaded with movies lol.
