I bought the 2001 at the end of the model year, ahead of the days of having advance information. A month later I found out about the extensive changes for the refreshed '02 models. I couldn't resist the many new key features - 4.7L HO, RB1 nav radio, side curtain air bags, TPMS, electroluminescent gauges, RainSense wipers and adjustable pedals. Traded it in with <5k miles on it and lost thousands, but having the new goodies was well worth it.
My 00 WJ had the trans TSB flash and the new caliper TSB done. I had OME coils and shocks. Was a nice Jeep! The 02 Overland needed like $4K worth of warranty work in one month....with like 40K miles. Front and rear howling diffs rebuilt, rain sense module failed, new windshield required when dealer could not new module to adhere, blend doors....the 4.7HO sure ran like a raped ape though!

The 4.7HO was very successful for Jeep/Dodge. It was also significant in that it was the return of 'power/performance' to the GC lineup, with of course the 5.7, 6.1 and 6.4 following in the years ahead.

Due to the critical mounting/alignment requirements the rain sense modules could only be ordered pre-installed onto and with the windshield.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I agree with some of what was posted.... however we already know many of the non-visual upgrades. I would LOVE to see how the headlights will change or at least hear if the will. Will the non-srt models get front led lights? If so where will they be?

I suppose there is no info on what the steering wheel looks like? I disliked the 2012 steering wheel so much I couldn't bare to get it...odd I know...

And if production is in Jan, is this a Q2 release?

That's interesting. On that 5th Wheel review of the Jeep they criticized having a wood/leather combo on the steering wheel. What I've found, in practice, is that it's so NICE to have both. The wood gets burning hot in the sun so it's nice to grab the leather part when it's like that.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

We are only 4 months away from the beginning of production. Any idea when we will see pictures of the 2014 or the official press release?
