Another question I have along these lines -- is the diesel that's being sold in the US the same as what's being exported? If so, will the exports already have started shipping before they start selling CRDs in the US? I ask because I generally prefer not to buy the first production run so if they've already gone through months of production for the export market, then by the time the first US CRDs hit the lots here, they'll already have all the kinks worked out (if any).
Engine is not new, 8 speed is. US spec diesel also requires urea. Seems like order banks only open in US now so it migh be some time before everybody else will be able to order anything.

On the flip side with hemi and diesel you are getting orginal ZF tranny but with V6 you get Chrysler's made version of that tranny which is a little bit scary as this would be the first batch/run that you are getting.

As you can see in my avatar I enjoy a 750HP blown petrol V8 while i still can !!! but for my family Bus / SUV its got to be diesel
Thank you, yes I am just speaking US and am really not that familiar with non US markets, it does seem like government intervention may be affecting the choice of engines in some countries.

I'd say that's where the summit heads into a different direction (luxury segment). Same applies to the SRT8. They simply aren't intended (in case of the Summit, not any more) to be used as "rugged" offroad- or adventure-vehicles.

That is the Overland's job. It basically can be equipped with almost all the features of the Summit. you just have to make a personal choice. If you want the luxurious street-cruiser, it's the Summit. If you want to take it off-road, it's time for the Overland.

After all, who's taking his SRT to go off-roading?

Oh, in Germany, I could tell you for sure that the HEMI wouldn't even be an option unless you rob a bank monthly to cover the cost of gas. Diesel wins - hands down.

But here in the US, it's different. You really have to drive a lot to even break even. For the majority, I guess the HEMI makes more sense economically.

JWS360 will become famous soon enough
Much as I find the 2014 intriguing, I'll wait a bit.

I may be in the market for a vehicle this coming fall. The JGC in some upper level trim (Overland?) is a contender. I am hoping that 10-11 months will be enough time to get some of the inevitable bugs out. Even if I were in the market now I'd hesitate. My family has owned Jeeps before. Early models always had an element of risk. I'll let someone else take the risk of being "first"!

I'd say the risk is somewhat smaller than usual because if you look at it, there is not much "new". New on the Jeep - yes. New for Chrysler - not that much.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Still curious about the wood color on various models and interior colors. Anyone have any info? Specifically curious about the black Limited interiors. I'm hoping we get some nice interior pics after release.
