Well... here's what I have for Seattle (with prices from a couple days ago):

V8 - Regular Unleaded at $3.17/gal and 15k miles per year - $2,772.59
CRD - No. 2 Diesel/B5 at $3.89/gal and 15k miles per year - $2,472.49

Soo... somewhere around $0.97/L with the current conversion rate for diesel and $0.79/L for petrol.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

But it isnt about fuel cost/ savings its about how the diesel pulls a trailer/van, offroad low down torque and economy while it is doing it, you can pull a stump out of the ground with these diesels and the only way people know it is a diesel is by the CRD badge, except when you overtake a ss commodore ute with your caravan on and going uphill, low down torque, thats what im talking about oh yeah.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I have a strange question and I don't understand this fully. Why is there a VW bonus cash offer with Chrysler? I could understand it if the CRD was out, and they were wanting VW Toureg TDI owners to switch to Jeep but I dont get it now though.. Milous?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Right now, I just checked the current prices, we are paying $1.47 AU per lt for regular unleaded and $1.45 for diesel. So I think our saving would be much better.

The option cost for the V8 or CRD is $5k AU which takes a bit to gain back, but as others have pointed out, over the V8 CRD would win hands down for savings and the V6 is no where near as good at moving the 2300kg lump. To drive a V6 and then a CRD there is no comparison, the CRD feels like it was made for the car, the V6 feels very under powered.

Yea what I mean is what is the purpose behind the incentive? Is there an affiliation with VW?

That would be good if they did that here on the MY14, we don't seem to go these type of deals here do we Robo.

Ive considered this as well... although I just dont tow very often. Im just not sure if the diesel driving style will bug me since ive never driven one.

As I said in the beginning I was convinced CRD...now id say im right in the middle... I still might have to wait until May and drive both and go with my gut because the financials arent going to be a big enough difference to sway me.

Damn you Jeep why cant you just release the engines all at once!!

V6 isnt an option for most of us its HEMI vs CRD and that decision is much tougher.

I can't comment on the V8 as its the only one I have not driven, but trust me if you are between the V6 and the CRD the V6 is very disappointing. I went to the dealer only to look and drive the V6 and when I got back from my test drive I told him what I though, I hated the whole feel. He told me to take the CRD for a drive and I like many remember the old diesels, smelly noisy etc... This is nothing like it, very smooth very nice and so much pulling power to get the car up and moving.

Ok, now I see, I have heard that the V8 and CRD are very similar, so for us here again CRD wins hands down as the upgrade to both is the same cost and CRD has much better numbers.
