Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

If you are running the numbers on diesel vs gas don't forget the cost of urea which will have to be replenished at each oil change. Also, diesels generally have a shorter oil change interval than gas as well as a larger capacity oil sump. Then there is the matter of diesel fuel filtration which will cost more to maintain. $$$$$$. Possibly our Aussie or European friends can give some guidance here although I believe they do not have to deal with urea.

Ya, I've always planned on getting the V6. No need for the V8 or CRD

I hear ya you will be impressed by the mileage and the engine itself is great. I think the new 8sp will greatly improve the engines response, and smoothness.
I love my V6 but I will say the current transmission and lag time on take off are my only qualms.I hope the new 8spd pairing with the V6 addresses this as I'm sure I'll be finding out soon myself :-) LOL.

I wasn't to impressed with the 5spd when I test drove a 11, same thoughts as you. If what we hear that the V6 gets a lot better with the 8spd, I shouldn't be disappointed. I figured now you wife has finally talked you into getting one instead of the Cherokee/Liberty.

The relationship between VW and Fiat could not be worse! Especially senior managment hates each other. Probably that's the reason why thea are especially targeting VW customers.....

JWS360 will become famous soon enough
20/28 MPG for the CRD? That's it?

Only 28MPG for the CRD? With diesel averaging 15% more than gas and the large price premium for the engine how long would it take to break even? Sounds less and less like a good deal.

This may be true, but the relationship btw VW and Chrysler has been great. VW is still paying Chrysler (Windsor Assembly) to build minivans for them, and has been for sometime now.. I doubt any qualms Fiat has with VW, would get in the way of making money. There may be a correlation btw this deal, and the previous agreement.
