Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Going on my past experience with diesels (F250 with 7.3 and my current 2003 Jetta TDI) and my knowledge of the current VW TDI line up and other brands of diesels, the interval for the oil change should be longer than the petrol version of the engine. The major difference is the quality of the oil (synthetic) and quantity of the oil (more).

Diesels typically require the same (or less) maintenance as a petrol engine. They are just less forgiving if you don't do it.

And the DEF (AdBlue) cost should be a few pennies per mile at most so it's more of an annoyance than a cost worry. I can buy a jug of the stuff at the local parts store for $7.50 a gallon. On the passat, that lasts 15k miles. I suspect that would go down to 10k for the larger engine but that's speculation on my part.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

No problem. I've been torn between a 300 SRT8 or a 14 Overland. Chrylser is killing it with their designs. Here's the 300-

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I'd be interested in putting tow hooks, skid plates and rock bars on a Summit. Will this be possible or will I need to go with an Overland?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

From the nav/radio owners manual PDF that was recently posted,.

"Read this information carefully before starting to operate the navigation system and follow the instructions in this manual. Neither the Chrysler Group LLC nor Garmin shall be liable for problems or accidents resulting from failure to observe the instructions in this manual"

If that's the right manual, I guess Garmin is very much involved.

Does anyone know what the oil change interval will be on the CRD? 10k miles or once per year would be fine with me.

Hard to say, as they have not released pricing on the CRD engine option.

I'd honestly expect it to be inline (or slightly more) than the Hemi option (so around 2k over the V6), as that's what folks in the EU and Oceania are currently seeing.

If that's the case, then your break even point depends if you are starting at the V6 or the V8.

Chevyboy you are correct. VW is still paying Chrysler to build minivans and I think we still have another year in our contract left with VW to build their minivan.

We haven't built any VW Routans in months as Marlon has stated. Probably at least 6 months. We are scheduled to start producing the VW's again soon though, from what I've heard.

I'm still hoping/waiting to hear for confirmation on wether Canada will get the 2014 Summit edition or just an Overland with some Summit options(not all) like last year. Hopefully order banks open same time as USA but I'm not really in a hurry and don't mind taking delivery in say March, April or even May.

NAIAS here I come!
