Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Really hoping the grey grille is not gonna happen. Looks terrible. Cheap. Then again, if I get one it is gonna have to be a Ltd for the sweet headlights!! NOW the only thing bugging me is the fact the Pentastar is mated to a new Chryco trans and nowthe Hemi gets the ZF. I have the Pentastar now and like it so much I'd want it again, especially with a 25mpg rating. What other Chrysler vehicles are using this trans?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Color question: post #1 lists Pacific Blue Pearl Coat as an available color; WK2Jeeps.com 2014 Prelim info page lists Sapphire Crystal Clear Coat with April availability, and the WK2Jeeps.com Exterior Colors page has both listed. Are they both going to be available? Will Pacific Blue be available at launch? What does it really look like?? (is there a Chrysler vehicle out right now with that color?) -

Thanks!

I thought the same when I saw the spy shot of the white, but I think you hit the nail on the head in that there's *literally* not enough contrast in the picture. The whites are all blown out and you lose the nice lines (in the hood especially) that we see in the other shots - it just looks like a blob. I did a quick edit in Photoshop and found I actually liked the white OK after I could see the detail a bit better:

The tranny is a ZF tranny built in a Chrysler factory, under license from ZF. In time they will also be building the one for the Hemi and CRD.

I wouldn't worry about it.

I personally do not like the grey grille I was seeing in the spy photos. I also wish we could see what is under that black tape that is covering the outer headlamp area. Are they trying to keep the led ring a secret?

I wish I wasn't so lazy right now, I'd go back and find all my posts on the grilles and fascias for you.. But ummm. lol
Its all good, I don't remember you stating that either -- I think it either got lost in translation or I misunderstand. Thanks for clarifying, I'm happy its not all chrome anyways...

Do you happen to know if all the summit's will have grey paint on the lower half, or do the colors vary depending on the top exterior color? I am going off of the very old spy shot of the black summit in a warehouse... thanks!

On the wk2 website, Red is not listed as a color option for 2014 GC. On this website, it says pictures of a Red Summit will be shown on Sunday. Kinda weird. Wonder why Red is not listed as a color on the WK2 website? Anyone? Bueller ? Anyone ?

Milous hasn't updated that info yet -- right now I think all of the latest data (including colors) is in the first and second posts of this thread.

The entire lower fascia has a chrome trim (similar to SRT). Front bumper is larger and features a slimmer opening for the projector fog lamps compared with other models. Lower lip is a contrasting dark gray. Larger, body-color wheel
arch moldings are similar to SRT but have a dark gray lower rocker trim panel with a chrome strip that runs along the top edge of the rocker.

You said;

"Grilles as follows;

Laredo - Chrome rings, BLACK vertical slots, GRAY surround
Limited - Chrome rings, BLACK vertical slots, body color surround
Overland - Chrome rings, BLACK honeycomb mesh, body color surround
Summit - Chrome rings, CHROME honeycomb mesh, body color surround
SRT - Chrome rings, BLACK honeycomb mesh, BLACK surround

Hope this helps.. "

"Anyway, the lack of a full chrome "grille" is reflective of the new design. This grille design basically spans the entire front of the truck from the center "grille" section to under the headlights. So it'd look awfully gaudy if done in all chrome, not to mention with the chrome in the headlight bezels. Some already have said (although prematurely) that the gray on the Laredo is too much. So can you imagine what the Summit, if done in all chrome would look like? Especially in direct sunlight! Opposing traffic would be blinded and end up crashing and running off the road into ditches, and all kinds of crazy stuff! So yea, I imagine after a few closed-course tests, they decided against that.. "

It's listed, color # 7:

Jeep Grand Cherokee WK2 - 2011 Grand Cherokee exterior design and colors

And here for SRT:

Jeep Grand Cherokee WK2 - 6.4L SRT8

Edit: Just looked, I don't have it updated on the 2014 page, will fix that tonight.
