Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Friday morning update:

Nothing...

Well something, but not much.. Went over to verify that the Laredo front end (appearance) has changed, as Marlon and I had been reporting that the upper fascia matched what you all see in the spy pic, but Milous' current intel says thats incorrect. However, I wasn't able to verify that bc there isn't a single '14 Laredo in the building. Zero. Zilch. Notta...

Ironically, there's more Summits in the building now than ever before. Problem is, they're all red. Deep Cherry to be exact. And as we all know, there aren't many options on Summits, so that's no help. All have the new brown interior with the copper accents and stuff, can't remember what it's called.. Too much to remember at 4am.

Limited's: 1 in the building. Black.. It too has chrome hooks. Nothing else to report there..

Overland's: Zero.

SRTs: Zero.. Still looking for one with these alleged Viper looking wheels, but I must keep missing em. Maybe they're evading me..

Lastly, back to the Summit, I did a lil digging, and found a minor, yet valuable detail about those seats everyone's panties got in a bunch abt. They're STILL made by Magna Seating. And I use the word "still," bc that's where our current seats are sourced from. Where Magna gets their leather is above my paygrade, but I can say Magna is listed as a tier one supplier to us. Don't ask me how I know this... So if anyone wants to call up Magna, you're welcome to do so. Just tell em chevyboy_711 sent you. If they don't hang up on you, you may actually get somewhere with them.. Good luck!

That's all I got folks.. Sorry. Oh and I must've missed those 5 '14 WD pilots we did just before the break. They're already gone.. (Just in case anyone was wondering.)

Edit: No Overlands currently in the building.. All the Deep Cherry '14s over there are Summits.

Thanks Milious, I appreciate your quick response. My question was of course based on the assumption that the Overland here in Europe gets the front assist and the head lamp washers as standard as it is the case right now. And even if we get those optional only that would be good enough for me. But Jeep must offer those features in the European market (partly even for legal reasons). But this is a pretty nice distinction, I will prefer the Overland but I can see how this will work for Jeep

Oh ok.. I must have missed that post of his. That would make sense then. And I just heard there's a tour coming through here at 9:00am, and I need to be on my best behavior. Yet another dog-and-pony show. Maybe this tour is apart of that.. (?)

He said that they invite all the Dealership reps to come out and see the new vehicles and then they drive one back to their dealerships.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

So you're saying I need to go home on lunch, throw on a fancy suit, and come back disguised as a rep, and they'll let me have a Summit by mistake!???

I'm not a fan of Deep Cherry, but for FREE, I think I could live with it..

LOL, I am not sure when exactly this meeting is, either before the NAIAS show are sometime before launch. I would think closer to launch so customers could see the vehicle and order one.

I should have made that more clear, it was referring to Overland vs Summit.

This may not be that, or that may not be this.. (However it goes.) But I wouldn't doubt these are the cars for what you are talking about. I remember just before the Dart launched last year, they did the same thing. Which was strange, bc that car isn't built here, yet the "drive off" was done in Auburn Hills. So they were shipped here, then drove away. I remember seeing about 20 of em headed south on I-75, and they too were all red. Must be a "hey look at me, I'm a new car" marketing thing..

I'll keep my ear to the ground.. If I notice they're all gone later, I'll let you guys know, and somebody in southeastern Michigan needs grab a camera and stake out the expressways!
