Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I was looking back to where I started looking at a GC, to now, and I think I'm happy. I started looking at a 13 Overland in red, with black interior because I like the way it looked and had most of what I wanted. I didn't like the small screen and lack of power folding mirrors. Then I found Jeep Garage and decided to wait for the '14.

I was planning on an Overland with V8 and OR-II in red with black interior.

Since then I decided on a Summit for the power folding mirrors and chrome.
But they took away the off road option so it's back to an Overland.
But, they gave me the power folding mirrors.
And, they gave me power tilt/tele
Then they took away my deep cherry
But, they gave it back
However, they took away the black w/o moldings
And, they stole my flipper glass

After all the ups and downs, it looks like I'll be ordering;

An Overland with V8 and OR-II package in red with black interior.

Overall, I'm really happy with the way things turned out. It's been a fun ride.

Predictions on the return of flipper? 2015 or 2016? Jeep- don't throw away the blueprints.

Maybe 2016 when the redesign happens again.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Hi all !! One question. Can someone please list exactly what the Summit has "standard feature wise" that the Regular Overland does not have. From what I have read, this is what I know the Summit has over the Overland. More chrome, power folding mirrors, Better stereo system, much different wheels ( not sure) on this, lane change warning parking assist system, Headlamp washers. What am I missing here? My quandry is this. I really don't like all the extra tacky chrome on the Summit. But I sorta like the idea of the Upgraded stereo and power folding mirrors which I don't think I can order on the regular Overland. Oh what to do ??? I am leaning towards a Cherry Red Overland Summit with the Black Interior. Wondering about how the brown interior looks though? Decisions decisions...... hummmm... your thoughts please Thanks to all here !!!

Really tough to understand Jeep's marketing strategy.

I want a Jeep for its ruggedness and full off-road capabilities but I also like the luxury and gadgets like a top sound system and the adaptive lights.

Now it seems Jeep decides for me that whatever money can buy it has to be either luxury or off-road, meaning either Summit with Harman and eyes that move, or Overland with tow hooks and ascent/descent control but not both.

So the combination of luxury and full off-road isn't allowed, even if the customer would be willing to pay the price? Can't believe it.

Anyway I'll wait till next week and then make my decision. If Jeep doesn't want me to spend more money, then I go back to a full off-road Overland. GOOD BYE SUMMIT!

Honestly man, I'd go with the Auburn.. The DCR and Jeep Brown combo does fit well together, but the Auburn is a richer color, more fitting to a premuim trim. And I believe it's exclusive to the Summit. Which means it'd be more distinguishable as such. But ultimately it's up to you man.. Like I said, I don't care for the red all that much. My Mustang is Deep Torrent red metallic, which is close to Chrysler's DCR, and I hate it. But if red is your color, then I presume you'll like it.

Cisco- the Specs for each model should be released late Sunday night. That should answer your question then.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Can someone explain the appeal of power folding mirrors? A lot of people here seem to see that as an important feature; I'm not saying there's anything wrong with that. But for me personally, I feel like I wouldn't care if my mirrors folded or not. Maybe I'm just not thinking of the real benefits that they offer.
