Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I see chatter about the wheels. My question is are the wheels on the '14 Overland and Summit a completely different design than last year's model? many thanks !!

Oh yea.. Forgot abt the grille.. But I think you're missing what I'm saying. Visually. Quadra lift isn't an asthetic/cosmetic feature.. Looking at both of these, it's hard to differentiate them from afar.. It's like looking at an '11-13 Overland from behind and trying to guess if its a Summit or not. It's nearly impossible. And from what I've seen, (only a few hundred of each), its hard to tell a black loaded Limited from a black loaded Overland.. The moldings and grille insert aren't as distinguishable from say 30yds away.. I'm just curious as to whether there's anything I've missed so far that is a "tell-tell" at first glance. All the other trims are unique and stand alone.

And give QL another chance.. They fixed it just for you.

Yes.. Nothing carried over in regard to wheels, excluding the SRT.

Both of the current SRT wheels are available for '14.

Nothing gets traditional chrome wheels.. SRT has "black chrome" currently available on the Alpine and Vapor.
But the Summit wheels are highly polished al., and the new SRT wheels at highly polished al.

The Overland wheels Milous and I are speaking of are in that spy pic of the red Limited. (Front view.. They're kinda hard to see.)

My guess is no. The existing systems are quite capable for the vehicle they are in. Let's face it most of the GCs don't go off road and those that do, most don't go into the places the vehicle was designed for (present forum company excepted...).

A new system costs lots in terms of time and resources and the existing system quite frankly is the one of, if not the best on the market for an SUV. To bring in anything more capable would require a complete platform rearchitecture as the mechanicals probably won't fit in the WK2 package (transfer cases, axles, etc).

Jeep would probably say go get a JK rubicon if you need that capability

These are all new 4x4 systems beginning with the 2011 Grand Cherokee. They just use the same names for them that they used for the 2005-2010s.

Guess you are suggesting that the rear camera guiding lines are no longer rigid but move with the steering wheel/wheels like e.g. in the BMW? Would be great.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Thanks to all for the wealth of information on this forum - certainly keeps me focussed as I prepare to 'pull the trigger on a MY14 Overland or Summit.

I have a question that someone might be able to answer for me. With reference to the 4wd capability of the Summit, the Off Road Adventure II Group option for the Overland (as referenced in Post #2) includes "Two-speed on-demand transfer case". Am I right in thinking that this is 'standard' on the Limited, Overland and the Summit or is this something quite different to the normal functionality of the Selec-Terrain system available on these models?

And the 18" wheel will be standard on the Limited, and will no longer be installed on the Overland?

Bc again, aside from the moldings, I struggle to see how these two trims differ asthetically. To me it seems like visually they're the same. EVERYTHING I've seen on the Overland, I've seen on the Limited, minus body color moldings of course.. Wheels, trim, chrome tow hooks.. Obviously the Overland offers more inside, but outside.. What am I missing?
On the 11-13 overland you get the 18 inches if you order the off road package or whatever it's called. Maybe it's the same on the 14's hence the presence of both types of wheels on both trim levels would be my guess.
