Fellas,

Is this the headlight for the Summit, SRT? or only SRT?

I think that is Reece you can see the 3 lines in the headlight for the headlight washers.

Lankness.. My man! I knew I wasn't the only Chevy guy around here!.. Too bad all their forums suck now-a-days.

Man, how I miss my '95 Z.

Ha! I had a '98 Z that I got rid of - that was stupid of me. So I went and got the '02 SS when it was the last 6 speed within 1500 miles of me. That's my toy now that only comes out a few times a year

This will be my first venture into a CJD vehicle, but man, I am excited! I'll have to figure out how to get you guys to sign under the hood before it leaves the plant

I looked back at some old threads, and unfortunately it looks like you're right about the extended waits. But what gives me hope is that number one this was for the full redesign, and the 2014 is just a refresh. Number two I think quite a few more workers were hired recently, allowing more vehicles to be built in the same amount of time. Number three, I didn't extensively research but it almost looked like those who ordered Laredos got theirs faster than those who ordered the highest level trims. I'm guessing because the Laredo is the most popular trim...

I'm still kinda frightened though.

Unless the transmission turns out to be a letdown, yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if the 2014 wins the award.

the 8 speed is wonderful in this Jeep and has transformed it into world class...even the laredo with the V6.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

My first car had such a smooth tranny that the only time you could detect a shift was in and out of first.

Of course it was a Chevy 2 speed PowerSlide ... Also called a PowerGlide by Chevy.

I'm counting on this 8 speed to be at least a bit better.

You're right in that this isn't a full on model relaunch, like '11 was, but the extent of this refresh trumps many vehicle relaunches! Lol..

However you're second point will probably be the difference, if any, this time around.. It's not that we have more people building more cars, because like I've said before, the plant still isn't running anywhere near capacity. We had 2 shifts in here when the '11s launched, and although there are abt 1,200 more ppl now, we're still only running 2 shifts a day, mostly 6 days.

The kicker is the efficiency in the process.. Back in 2010 the ENTIRE Body Shop was brand spankin new. The 2nd shift was new. The model was new. The expectations were low. Quality was an extreme concern. Italians were everywhere. And everything was a cluster f***. At launch we were ONLY building 600 cars a day! Not a shift, A DAY! The line was turned waaay down, bc again, Sergio and his crew weren't accepting no bs rolling otta here anymore!

But now, things have settled (some..). We're building OVER 600 cars A SHIFT. The NEW new ppl are well acclimated. People feel secure and proud, yet still humble. The technological system fixes are in place. The line runs smooth (most days). And the Italians are back home watching Chrysler carry Fiat.

Scott is right, in that there will still be delays, but you too may be right in that they won't be AS lengthy..

Scott is right, the wait will drive you crazy. I ordered my 2012 SRT in June when the order banks opened, received it on December 1. It got to the point that I thought certain individuals might try to hire PI's to track down their vehicles. Some trucks were built 8 weeks before mine and didn't arrive till after mine.
