Will the Uconnect be something that can be added later via software?

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I totally believe everyone here about the possibility of a long wait of more than 8 weeks. I'm just curious if anyone else "in the know" here might be able to guesstimate as to how likely we really are to experience these long delays for the 2014s? Or is it basically impossible to tell?

Not that it would necessarily make me change my plans, but all this time I (and probably others) was assuming we had a good chance of taking delivery around mid-March, so this info about possible large delays comes as a bit of a surprise (to me at least, perhaps that's my fault) and disappointment.

However you're second point will probably be the difference, if any, this time around.. It's not that we have more people building more cars, because like I've said before, the plant still isn't running anywhere near capacity. We had 2 shifts in here when the '11s launched, and although there are abt 1,200 more ppl now, we're still only running 2 shifts a day, mostly 6 days.

The kicker is the efficiency in the process.. Back in 2010 the ENTIRE Body Shop was brand spankin new. The 2nd shift was new. The model was new. The expectations were low. Quality was an extreme concern. Italians were everywhere. And everything was a cluster f***. At launch we were ONLY building 600 cars a day! Not a shift, A DAY! The line was turned waaay down, bc again, Sergio and his crew weren't accepting no bs rolling otta here anymore!

But now, things have settled (some..). We're building OVER 600 cars A SHIFT. The NEW new ppl are well acclimated. People feel secure and proud, yet still humble. The technological system fixes are in place. The line runs smooth (most days). And the Italians are back home watching Chrysler carry Fiat.

Scott is right, in that there will still be delays, but you too may be right in that they won't be AS lengthy..
Lets hope more of the Mercedes influence on quality stays in the product going forward and not Fiat. Not sure about the US but anything thats been imported here in the past was junk to the point they pulled out of the market in 1989 as no one was buying. They have returned recently via an import agent but all they have is the Arbarth ( ugly little beastie) and a few commercial vans.
lot of water under the bridge now and Fiat seems to be in better hands management wise, lets just hope they dont return to the dark times and destroy the Chrysler brands- and the resale value of our cars with it !

Is the Select - Speed part of the V8 w/OR II, or would they still be delivering those vehicles without it? That would be fine for me. I'd rather have what I want than have to wait for something I didn't want in the first place. I'm just not sure how Jeep puts things together.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

the wait here in Oz was out to 6+ months for a Diesel last year.. plenty of V6 and Hemi's still sitting in the yards however. I suspect the dealers will change their order profiles for this year so they dont get burnt.

I wonder if Selec-Speed is the same as Toyota's "Crawl Control" (?)

See here how it works basically like auto pilot - you just steer.. some rock and sand examples in the vid.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Folks, the previous links to the color chips no longer work. Any new links showing the 2014 exterior colors? I see this http://www.wk2jeeps.com/wk2_colors.htm, but do not see that Granite crystal color. Not too many choices for the Loredo, which is what I am interested in.
