Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Several months ago I was asked to participate in a survey regarding the key FOB. Questions centered around leaving the vehicle without pushing the keyless button and how the vehilce should eventually turn off. I assumed some new software was being designed to prevent the inadvertent leaving the vehicle with the engine running.

So, question regarding this as I planned to order it... If I understand this option correctly, we would get a smartphone app that would in essence control our vehicle (locks, lights, horn, etc.). I would assume this may have additional features similar to other manufacturers with regards to vehicle health, time to change oil, etc. via email/text notification as well.

If this option isn't ordered, how will the system work? Would we just have a keyfob that would allow for remote start, lock/unlock doors, windows down from within remote range?

Would not having this subtract any features of the UConnect system aside from the cell connection to the vehicle?

Sorry if this is rehashing something that has been previously discussed, but this is one of the caveats of the 2014 that I am curious about...I certainly may have missed anything regarding a complete listing of UConnect features and specs...

i'd say those are just the sensors in the front bumpers that control the beeping once you get to close to another object.

The "real" park assist that steers you into the parking spot is scheduled for MY15.

I don't think they would raise the Jeep. To many issues with stability, handling, fuel economy, etc.
The new QL system will give the rig an additional 6 inches over the current system GC's if I recall.

So, if they flattened something... it was something huge...

You ever owned a Merc?

I've owned 3.

A 1996 C280 - Had to replace the tranny twice in 6 years), numerous engine issues, and a rear diff that shredded itself.

A 2004 E320 CDI - Was a great car until the dealer put petrol in the thing... was a down hill slide into hell after that)

A 2009 E55 - Rear diff, tranny, super charger, injectors, fuel pump, airbag control module, HID auto leveling system... all dead or needing replacement within 2 years of ownership. It now sits in my garage, taking up space and making my insurance company rich off me.

Please god... no. Whatever MB told the boys at Jeep about quality, please... just... purge it from your minds.
