If this option isn't ordered, how will the system work? Would we just have a keyfob that would allow for remote start, lock/unlock doors, windows down from within remote range?

Would not having this subtract any features of the UConnect system aside from the cell connection to the vehicle?

Sorry if this is rehashing something that has been previously discussed, but this is one of the caveats of the 2014 that I am curious about...I certainly may have missed anything regarding a complete listing of UConnect features and specs...
Just want to echo this post. I am very interested in clarification of what would be missing and wondering how long before it will be added back in....

Selec-Speed Control combines both Hill-descent Control and (a brand new) Hill-ascent Control. The Summit will not have this.

Hmm Eco? Interesting. Will always take better mileage. (But still want power when I need it)

Thanks for all the help everyone provides. Been following this topic ever since page 14. Very excited about the '14, design is growing on me.

Page 14?? If you don't go back and read pages 1-13, it may affect how well you do on the final exam...

Regarding Mercedes quality, our experience with our '07 ML350 has been pretty disappointing.... a failed balance shaft at about 55k, failed $1,200 wiring harness that took out headlights on a cross country drive, among other issues.

For a company that touts "engineering," having nearly two full model years of V6 engines, across multiple models with a sprocket that can't hold up to the timing chain is disappointing QC. Luckily, fixed under an aftermarket warranty.

(Not that I'm tracking it...) I'll know the total outlay next week when I pick my ML for a new mercedes transmission and torque converter at 99k, but my warranty company will have paid out about $15k since factory warranty expired at 50k, and they don't pay retail...not even close

Don't get me wrong, our '13 Mercedes loaner with 2k miles is amazing in overall driving experience and finish (despite being 100% MB-TEX interior ) but I'm not sure my experience (maybe we got "the" bad Mercedes), and what I've read (benzworld) would let me recommend today's Mercedes for the long haul. Unlike many I meet in the dealership, we can't buy a new factory-fresh SUV every 45k miles, so that my standard for what we buy next.

It's been awhile since my '97 JGC left the factory, and I'm not well versed on how much impact Daimler had on today's Jeep line, but based on what I read/heard in the past few years, most especially the honest comments from the great guys who build them, I'm returning to Jeep for a '14
