Am I the only one having a problem with pics loading on the WK2 site? Must be a Windows 8 thing..

The site is running a little slow. Otherwise try the Flickr pictures.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

My thoughts personally on the High Performance Audio package on my old 2012 Jeep SRT: 5 out of 10. I could put a badass system in any car that sounds wonderful with bass you can feel like the good old days when systems were a must have for teenagers for around $2K. The HK radio in the 2012 sounded great, dont get me wrong but it did lack a TON of features that should really be there for the price.

Few options that should have been there:

#1 better/bigger sub
#2 more power
#3 head unit that has more robust EQ

My 2009 SRT was about the same except for the Kicker sub which i loved. Also on the 2009 you could use VR to play specific tracks from an ipod/iphone. This feature was removed on the 2012. WHY? The USB ports were always finicky and I was always unpluggin and repluggin my devices or resetting my ipod/iphone to get it to recognize again.

I really hope the 2014 is a different machine. I love the look of the 8.4 screen, the ports located under the center console door looks nice, great for concealing your music device inside the door. SD card seems to be a cool idea. Also like the aux jack under there instead of on the front panel of the head unit. With the addition of 2 USB ports in the back and the higher powered AC plug Im excited to use these!

I have no doubt that the 2014 will be a whole nother' beast. Im really looking forward to getting in one.

Does anyone know if the 2014 HK system is identical to the 2012? Hopefully its a bit better for the high price for that option...

Depending on the definition of "moldings". I'm meaning lower fascias when I type "moldings".
I stand corrected.

The site is getting slammed with people like you, like me, wanting to see the photos. Normally it's quick but it probably getting 10-20x the traffic right now if not more.

it'll speed up as people get their fill would be my prediction.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

So will we be able to plug an ipod directly into one of those ports to play the music through the car? I'm really looking forward to longer having to use a crappy fm adapter to listen to my ipod.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I am going to post the SRT images on Imgur.com and make them available at 9:01pm Pacific/12:01 am Eastern. This should help alleviate the load on the server.

Near that time I will post the links to Imgur and WK2Jeeps.com.

THANKS to who suggested Imgur, that was a lot easier than I thought to post the images!

I am 99.9% sure your iPod will plug right in to the USB port and be able to be controlled by the head unit. You will be able to use the Aux jack to do this as well as the USB port. Who knows, maybe this HK unit will allow cover art (not the generic crap the old RER puts on the screen). I hope there are a plethora of new features that come along with this new architecture. Better Bluetooth streaming would be a plus! I like to just plug my ipod in, play random tracks, and when i return to the vehicle, have it resume where the ipod left off! Would be awesome if the VR will allow you to play specific tracks or albums!

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

From the written descriptions it sounds like the Overland will be very blah looking. With very little chrome and all the trim painted body color it sounds cheap looking.

I hope the pictures when they show up will prove me wrong. I won't give up OR II, so I might have to load up a Limited.

If it has bluetooth audio streaming (which I think it does), you'll also be able to stream music from your iPhone (or other bluetooth-enabled smartphone) to the car, and control it through the head unit / steering wheel controls, without even plugging it in. As long as you have your phone paired with the car, the car should recognize it as an auxiliary audio source even if it's just sitting in your pocket.
