Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I'm looking at this doc: http://wk2jeeps.com/2014/2014_wk2_fe...ailability.pdf

HEre is a question (sorry about the black headlight filler again):

Front headlamp washers are ONLY standard on Summit (not even an option on any other trim). Does it mean that we will not get that plastic filler on Overland or it will still be there with nothing behind it?

Auto leveling is required with xenon so that's why it's standard on overland since it comes standard with xenon / HID. On BMWs the light adjusts by doing up a little up and down routine when you turn them on. It self adjuts to prevent blinding oncoming drivers. You will never notice the headlight auto leveling while driving.

The adaptive turns the light beam in the same direction as the steering wheel. It helps in dark unlit curvy roads but in 90 plus percent of situations it's a toy to mores friends which is why it's only on the top grade. I have adaptive lights on my BMW 650i and honestly would not pay extra for adaptive portion even though I drive unlit mountain roads all the time.

All HID with LED come with black plastic filler. The summit adds the washer from that plastic trim. Since overland has those headlights standard it gets the black plastic piece.
If it turns you off get a limited with halogen lights and don't select the luxury package.

No issues here either ... and while not at every station, diesel is actually at many more stations that you would think... you just don't notice it unless you're looking.

I'm fine with the general driving public continuing the diesel is bad meme... the more people that continue the "noisy", "black soot", "needs a rebuild at 50-70k miles" etc. etc. line means better incentives later this year when I'll be shopping.

Thanks!!

I wonder if you can get headlight washers on Overland. If I'm going to have the plastic might as well have something behind it that provides some functionality.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Having driven a diesel for 8 years, I'd agree. They're reliable, robust and a pleasure to drive. I am eager for more diesel vehicles to hit the roads.

I think you will get the plastic on the Overland because you get the same headlight. They should stamp it

OOPS

OOPS
I know that this was beaten to death but my understandig was that if you get LED headlights you get the plastic but headlamp washers are standard and come with the headlight assembly. If they wanted to mix and match they should have left the washer in the bumper otherwise MAKE IT STANDARD!!!

If I'm going to have "a dud" behind that plastic that's one f$#%#$ design I have to say on a 40K+ vehicle.

This was actually first thing that my wife asked about it is a headlight washer. This is going to be salesman nightmare, I bet you that this is going to be conversation at every dealership:
- Buyer: Hi, what is this black plastic thing on Overland
- Salesman: It is a headlight washer.
- Buyer: Cool, how does it work? Can you show me?
- Salesman: No, Overland it is just an ugly plastic, there is nothing behind it?
- Buyer: Is it an option?
- Salesman: No
- Buyer: WTF???

They should start reharsing this at every dealership!!!

The pdf file which includes Larados through Summit, only lists the washers as being available on(and standard)the Summit.
