Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Gotta be honest, I don't like that very much. I think the current setup is much better.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Agreed, just example of what is possible (and have shifted some of those around since, now added bank 1/bank 2 fuel trims - suspect #2 problem stems from overlean condition) plus can read/reset error codes. Am still taking the cure from Jags of yout so resisting an oil pressure gauge but like voltmeter and clock.

Might as well do something, stock needles are invisible to me in daylight & clock shrinks to nothing on Sat.

Guys, thats just a test vehicle with a mounted screen to monitor vehicle parameters. Hopefully none of you thought thats what the new gauge setup looks like :-D

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

True, just my test vehicle, not the factory's. Am adding a lot of inexpensive electronics, the photo is just of a 10" Android tablet with a bit of velcro.

BTW found this on alpar talking about the Ram 1500: "Low gear is obtained by using the gear-change buttons on the steering wheel." so sounds like I was right about 2nd gear starts & 1st being a granny.

Has a cd of .36 and MPG est of 18/25 (sound familiar) but without the frantal area (or cdA) is hard to make a meaningful comparison. HP for Pentastar is quoted at 305 with torque peak 269 @ 4,175 vs 260 at 4,800 for 2012 so the cams have been massaged a bit.

Hard to compare anything with the Ram 1500 since Chrysler seems to consider the frontal area a secret - I did not find it published anywhere. cd seems about the same as the '12 WK2 which has a FA of 31 sq ft. Hopefully the new grill will get under .33 cd since not much can do about the FA (I'd like to chop mine about 4" & lower 2" but the price would be high)

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Haven't been on in a few days, and noticed somebody guessed the fuel filler. Thought maybe it would be they would get rid of the engine so we can save the world by not using fuel! Haven't posted much, but avid Jeeper, new 2013 Limited(Br.Blk/Light frost, Lux grp, 20's, tow pkg) on the way, with a HEMI!! Think i'll drive around in first gear so i get about 3mpg just to prove a point. This will be our 10th jeep vehicle, just couldn't wait for the diesel, and updates. Trading BMW 1 series, and 2010 wrangler sahara(9400 miles) for the grand, drive it a couple years and get a diesel 8spd. Excited for my hemi, can't wait for the diesel(had an 08, wish i still did)...

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Both of those by the way are the wifey's cars, i've got a 2012 3500 dually, 4x4. Glad it doesn't have the urea which is coming next year.
I can't remember reading it, is the new Grand's diesel going to require the DEF, or just have the exhaust filter? Will it require synthetic oil? The mercedes 3.0 in the 08 said it required full synthetic 5w-20. Thanks

Milous,

I've got to say you've spoiled me... when a few days go by without any new tidbits I start going through withdrawals.

I need a fix! Help a brother out?

I'm running low on 2014 tidbits, I may have to start a "2015" thread

No need... we all know the flux capacitors are coming.

Thanks for all your info, though. If not for all the exciting 2014 info I probably would have moved on from Jeep as a serious option for my next ride (or more likely, just decided to keep my '05 Magnum until something more compelling came out).
