Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Wow, this thread has exploded since the launch. You guys aren't playing around getting your orders in already. I'm waiting until the wi-fi is available, then pulling the trigger. Hope no one answered this already, but is the HK system going to be available as an option on the Overland?!?

If you mean the 19 speakers ... no.
The Overland has a 9 speaker HK system.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Hello, this is my first post and I would like to say thanks to everyone who has contributed to this forum. The information and opinions are greatly appreciated.

I plan to order a 2014 GC and am undecided between the Hemi and the Diesel. I see they have the same towing capacity, but have not seen any performance data for the two engines with the new 8-speed transmission (0-60mph, 30-70mph, etc.). Is this published anywhere or is it yet to be determined? If unpublished, anyone care to speculate on the difference?

I like the added fuel economy of the diesel even at the higher cost per gallon, but do not want to sacrifice too much performance off the line or at highway speeds.

The thing is... I don't want that giant hole in my roof...its worthless with a M.O.A.B. or similar basket up there. I wasn't really interested in the Bluray but if that add deleted the pano I would be happy...not because I'm ordering now or even at all but because the odds of someone deleting the sunroof without adding the Bluray (if that actually deletes it) are low and in 3 years when I'm looking for a nice used '14 I won't be able to find one the way I want it...the joys of being on a budget that doesn't agree with my desires

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Does anyone know the rough price Delta expected between an Overland and a Summit ? e.g. $2000, $5000 , more ?
I analysed the specs and can see the following and just not sure if its worth it - just depends on price.

Summit additional equipment above Overland spec;
Harmon Kardon 19 speaker sound system
Suede look headliner
Natura leather seats
Adaptive Headlights
Different style 20" polished alloy wheels
Forward Parking Alert/sensors
Quadra-Drive II
Adaptive Cruise Control
Blonde Spot Monitoring
Forward Collision Waring
Rear Cross Path Detection
Different front bumper lower section

current Diesel 5spd quoted 0-60 in Australia is 8.5 sec I think. the 8speed has a much lower first gear ratio so could knock off 1/2 sec making it in the 7.X range
there is however dudes on Youtube claiming the current one will do 0-60mph in 7.5sec, maybe launching off the break and trashing the engine.
The Hemi should see a little improvement also maybe less as the V8 will rev out more than the diesel and is not so limited by the auto.

Sorry Blonde Spot Monitoring = Blind Spot Monitoring.... but I will leave it there as a desirable option

The reviews won't come out for a while, at least another month probably. Generally, based off of exports, the engines are pretty similar performance wise. The V8 might be slightly quicker, but only very slightly. I am in the same boat as you, and am leaning towards the CRD.

I agree with you 100%!

My 2012 has the rear seat entertainment system. I hardly ever use it but I wanted the regular old fashioned Sunroof & not the panoramic one! I love the ability to slide my sunshade open without the use of motors or electronics.

I'm hoping the 2014 can be configured in a similar fashion.

Thanks...

But I'd like PICTURES of the actual colors (not just words).
I can't seem to find them anywhere.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Hey guys, I came across this video and enjoyed it, so thought I would share. Its not a 2014, but a review of a 2012 CRD in Ireland. Chevy, Milous, Marlon -- might check it out and give yourself a pat on the back
