Won't happen.

Why would they risk losing their dealership to get the public a picture?

Is it difficult to get a dealer to accept a customer order right when they open?

Thanks,

It's not hard for someone who wants your business. The timeline could always slip though.

I can extend for as much as 6 months, so it's not really an issue, unless it slips *badly*.

Does "sales launch" equal "delivery time" for early orders?

Thanks,
Greg

Don't ask me. People are doing all sorts of things that could get them in trouble.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Since nearly everyone has a cell phone with a camera these day it is likely that someone not connected with CJF will get some shots.

My GC is a Verizon hot-spot now. I chose Verizon because it has more coverage in odd places than anyone else. WIth so many multi-device and unlimited plans proliferating, I doubt that it will be an issue for the 2014. A Magic Jack plug maybe ?

It is irritating that Google Maps must be connected to get driving directions but they are adding off-line capabilities. What worries me more is the tendancy for tablets to be eliminating SD card slots.

I ask as I travel to some decently remote areas where the Sprint coverage map lists it as "Sprint Roaming/Off Network" (but is covered by Nextel), and I'm curious if that will cripple the UConnect system when I go into those areas for things like datatransfer and such for the system.
I know the RAM and Viper are Sprint 3G. I hate that it's Sprint too, because my wife's company phone almost never has service in the WV mountains when we're driving north. Guess I won't be starting my GC from my seat at Cracker Barrel!

Since the announcement of Uconnect Access, I have been worried that Chrysler had the horrible idea to have the apps only use the packaged Sprint service, and not be capable of tethering to the owner's device. Almost everyone who would use the apps (likely streaming music, open table, movie times, etc) already has a smartphone capable of providing a data connection.

I might be totally wrong (hope I am), and you may be able to use your own phone as the data connection. If not, Sprint's network isn't going to be reliable enough to stream music on long trips, and everyone will have to pay their cell phone bill, the Sirius Travelink bill, and a bill for Sprint service for their GC in order to take full advantage of the system. Not to mention other bills for services such as Spotify, etc. Ridiculous.

Again, hope I'm wrong.

Are you saying that you were able to change the hotspot from Sprint to Verizon, or you just put a MiFi in your GC? I have always wondered what Sprint hardware Chrysler would use for UConnect Access, and how hard it would be to "throw in" a Verizon device. Clearly you would probably lose the remote start functionality, but Verizon would be far superior for everything else, including my wallet.

Milous, any word on a power and torque update for the hemi in the 2014 WK2 like the Ram's hemi? You would think they would give it a boost since it will have been at the same ratings for 3 model years.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

a) Try the MGM Grand (used to go to DefCon)
b) My mobile hotspot can support up to five 802.11 (encrypted with WPA2) devices & plugs into the console 12v but as far as I am concerned all the Heep needs to supply is the amp and speakers, have tablets for everything else though would be nice if Uconnect could use SKYPE or Vonage.

Personally find all factory devices today to be too limited for my needs (while my oil was being changed just took the tablet out of the holder and used the dealers WiFi.)

It looks like the Ram's bump was mainly due to removing the belt driven power steering pump for an electric one. If the GC goes to an electric pump on the Hemi than maybe it'll go up 5 or so.
