Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

So far that just says blu-ray/dvd so I'll hold out on maybe still getting the cd player for the wife. However if the cd player goes there too and takes up that much space forget it.

The way I understood it, this IS the optional player - so it won't get any tighter than that.

I was just surprised they called it "remote CD-Player" and didn't point out its full potential (CD+DVD+BluRay).

That picture is the player for the rear entertainment system. The remote CD player goes in the same spot but is probably a little slimmer. I don't think it plays DVDs or BluRays.

I haven't seen an actual picture of the CD player. But it is probably similar to the one seen in the video in post #6 on this page: http://www.allpar.com/forums/topic/1...am-1500-radio/

Probably similar to the one in the video in post #6 here: AllparForums: 2013 RAM 1500 RADIO - Car Dealer Hangout - Allpar, the Chrysler Car Community

That's one of the big reasons why I went with the Summit.

Australia

Regarding 2014 Overland vs 2014 Summit models, the equipment/feature differences appear to be identical to the U.S. models. It's possible though that some of the option packages may be arranged differently.

Thanks Milous!

We were going for a '13 overland and now we will still get a '14 overland instead of the summit. Good to hear it appears the same at this stage, makes things a bit easier to try and work out.

Marksy has a brilliant future
I'm not sure that is a good thing or not for us. The reason being previously the overland was spec'd to be a summit for us. Given this could it lead to both the 2014 overland and summit being over priced in aus? Largely to the the ability to take advantage of a lack on knowledge on model history, I can imagine salesman jumping at the chance to claim the summit is a brand new higher end model in comparison to the 2013 and as a result sell the now lower spec'd overland at the same value range as the current overland (spec'd as a summit) and then add a premium for the summit.

Any chance of them addressing this someway milos? A new badge name for Australia (badgin the summit still as an overland and then the summit something completely different?

Anyone others thinking along the same lines?

On the flip side if they do the right thing pricing wise what does this do to the resale value of the overland no longer deemed as the top end model?

Not having a winge just opening discussion on this, not saying I'm right - just a thought I had

Thanks for the update Milous - us Aussies seem well represented here !

So I gather your confident there will be a Summit sold in Australia ?

I suspect the "Overland" will come in at a similar price to the current one our maybe $1K less then they will slam us for $5K premium for the Summit as in the US. So for a Summit CRD drive away will be looking at $80K !!
