...my last jeep was 1995 Laredo... went for 181000 miles.
Any thoughts on the VW diesel Toureg? They are doing deals.
I took a hard look and test drive of a Toureg TDI a couple of months ago. The motor/tranny combination is reeeally nice, pulls hard with very good NVH control and the trans shifted very quickly and smoothly. Steering and chassis feel was also very good.

The one I looked at was loaded up with the pano roof, 3d nav, and adaptive hid headlights.

The only thing that really turned me off was the back of the front seats were hard plastic! On a $50k plus vehicle, I was very surprised to see that.

As others have said, I think the 4wd system in the jeep is superior, but the Toureg seems to be very capable even without a low range, from what I have seen people crazier than I do with them.

There is a lot of forum content out there (vw vortex is one that comes to mind) if you want to read up.

Personally, if I was planning in the $50k plus range and off road was not a priority, I would be looking at the BMW too.

Chrysler has a program which works through some employers and non-profits that guarantees the 1% below invoice on 'most' of their vehicles.

I joined TreadLightly.org for $100, but there are cheaper options. If you are working, check with your employer.

The best deal to get the 1% below invoice deal that I have found is through an organization called the access fund. THe membership is $35 and after 30 days you can get code for the Chrysler affiliate program.

Lots of '13 SRT's built yesterday, more rolling off the line today...

When I contacted uconnect customer service in December, they told me the pricing for the basic data service after the free trial was not yet determined...
Thanks much Weck! I hope the basic service is cheap/free... And tethering through my phone is ideal... Here's hoping...
