Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I'm definitely getting ACC. If it saves you once well than it will pay itself off. With all the gadgets in the car it is easy to get distracted. Actually I read an article about this type of safety systems and they are actually quite effective according to that study (with exception of Lane Departure).

Wonder how new improved system will work in traffic situation ... seems like it should be almost like autopilot so you can take a nap or read a newspaper ;-).

I'm not saying I wouldn't love it, I'm pretty much saying what Jim_in_Pa said "it was hard to get used too".

It is weird at first but again, once you get used to the thing is awesome.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Might be a silly question, but is there a possibility to install the blu-ray player after delivery? The images I have seen make it look like the screens clip on the seat somehow?

The screens are indeed seat mounted. The player itself is in the center console. It would require a different console insert, cabling through the seat, and an interface to the head unit. Could it be done yes...would I want to ? Not on my brand new $40,000+ vehicle.

Think Outside !- No Box Required.

Somebody posted pix of an iPad and holder for the seat back. A lot less than $2000.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Just got back from NAIAS and I thought I would post a few comments and questions on the 2014 JGC:

1) We preferred the White Summit to all the rest. It is a shame that ivory interior won't be available in the Summit. A lot of the competition utilized the lighter luxury interiors to their advantage. The Brown/Indigo interior was better than I imagined. I liked it but the wife did not. I guess it was a guy thing. I think she tolerated the Jeep brown. Wifely likes the Summit front end better than the Overland, but is sadden my the the color selection of the Summit. But after we digest a few things I do believe we will have a new Jeep in out stable soon.

2) In the rear seat when the armrest is lowered, what is the "strap with a hook "used for?

3) Does the turn signal have the touch 3 flash lane changing feature?

4) I was disappointed to see that Chrysler/Jeep did not have color paint samples to view. Land Rover wins this category at the show. I was interested to see if the blue was available to be seen in person. The Silverado or Hot Wheels Camaro blue would be perfect in my book.

5) I want a C7...

6) Nice to see Barry S...

Enjoyed the show. The 50 MPH winds at the 59th floor of the Ren center made sleeping last night interesting.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Has anyone seen a road test on the '14 yet? there are videos from the Motorshow with commentary and the odd Youtube video of it driving along but no motoring groups/magazines with proper road tests yet. Is this because jeep have not handed them over to the motoring journalists/press yet?

2: That's in case you have a rear facing child seat installed in the center and don't want the armrest bonking the kid in the noggin.

3: Yep.

I read somewhere that Jeep had put a press embargo until the middle of February. I'm not exactly sure what it means, but when I first read it I figured that Jeep was prividing cars for testing, but results not to go public for a month.
