Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

@Guennik.. I feel you man. And this feedback is what they SHOULD pay attention to. You make some good points. And your criticism is very constructive, and certainly well received... At least by me. If I were running the show, I assure you there would be more "Jeep" in the Chrysler Summit. But hey.. It is what it is. Like you said, can't please everyone. But you can't lose your identity trying to get a hand in the lux market money grab either.

No, they have simply displayed it a motor show and said all info will be released closer to launch date.
So why would you expect Jeep UK let alone their dealers to be offering full info yet?...
I'm not asking for full info, it would be quite silly to think they would have prices and spec in the UK now wouldn't it? Their reply always goes along the lines of "A new grand Cherokee? Wait a minute let me check.... No sorry, No new models are coming out". Knowing Jeep and their previous models it's likely going to be a year after launch in the USA before it hits UK. Australia will most likey get it before us.

All I'm looking for is it rough date, and they know trust me! I'm looking to place an order for a vehicle in March anyway so if order banks open in the UK by then, it will probably be the Jeep GC Summit. With BMW it's, 3 months wait maximum, for factory order.

In a perfect world the 14' GC should be here by April/May but I know that's not going to happen, but let's wait and see shall we..

I don't blame anybody for not liking the amount of Chrome on a Summit in general - but the claim that the MY14 "all of a sudden" has more Chrome is just incorrect.
I think Chrysler have it right. I will be buying the Summit BECAUSE of the chrome (Bling). Any less would have been disappointing. There are plenty of other JGC models with less chrome. For someone wanting conservative upmarket looks this Summit has it. Chrysler Australia....please do not scale down the American Specification on the model coming into Australia. Milous, Chevvy, Scott, Marlon etc., having said that, do you think we will get all the Summit features because dealers here are stating that Chrysler Australia is still to decide what they incorporate into the Australian version of the Summit? It would be disappointing if they drop those chrome honeycomb grille inserts like they did last time with our top spec model.

@ guennik

I agree with some points but I do not agree with your conclusion. I think it is not a realistic comparison to compare a used car with a new car. And by the way X5 will be an old model shortly. Inalso think that the GC is the nicer car.

I agree with Guennik on the Summit losing its off road prowness. It is a Jeep not a Mercedes GLK.

Granite Crystal Metallic. May not have the Jeep, but I'll still drop in and keep up with the news.

But you got to remember that most new 4x4 owners never take their car off road, well heavy "off-roading" anyway. So auto makers place more emphasis on luxury an refinement for on road (where the car spend 90% of it's time). Ultimately these refinements are what buyers of a 40k+ vehicle want.

If you want a serious off vehicle I doubt you would buy a GC summit.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

When I saw GCOverland's side by side pics I compared some pics of the '13 Limited to the pics of the '14 Limited. Many of us may be comparing the 2-dimensional pics of the '14 to what we "know" the '12-'13's to look like in person (3-dimensionally). While I know that it is a subjective choice and everyone is entitled to their own opinion, when comparing the pics side by side I think that the '14 is a definitely improvement and I am glad that I waited.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Just as an observation, the excitement and volume of info on this site does take you away from the real world sometimes. As commented not too many posts ago, details are not 100% locked in, so while we know so much we still don't have all info confirmed. I too have been holding off from talking to my dealer as I know for a fact they are not able to place an order on jeep AU. My logic rolls with other comments there is no point getting upset or jumping the gun when US details haven't been finalized. As soon as all the info is locked in and pricing announced I think we in AU may get a chance at getting some real info. There was a flutter of Aussie's about 10 pages back on Summit/Overland issues. This is the main reason I am holding off. I gave my dealer the order code that Milous gave us about 3 weeks ago but until he can use that code we don't know what is what.

I think the advise to chill is good, while we all want the JGC yesterday, the boys need some time to crank them out and the suits need to get their $hit together and then disseminate this to the world, the disappointment real comes when the dealers have no info and then just tell you a load of BS. We know a new JGC is coming, I think that cat is well and truly out of the bag. But I do think Jeep could do better with setting expectations, I.e. yes a new model is coming and we should have more details on x date. Just saying.

Tbh I wouldn't be supprised if they launch it January 2014, (Their slow like that) and thats just too long.

It's like they're trying to hide it, come on we do have computers uno and I did see the big reveal at the motorshow in Detroit.

Ive booked a test drive of a 40d X5 in the next few weeks, I'm making a purchase in March anyway so if I still hear nothing from Jeep, and the BMW is a nice drive, then X5 it is!
In March you should have theses infos the latest, the European premier is on the Geneva auto show.
