I thought the same thing too at first, but I'm pretty sure there's a removable key inside of it to allow you to open the door.

For the Push to Start functionality, the 2014 manual states:

Quote:
NOTE: In case the ignition switch does not change with
the push of a button, the RKE transmitter (Key Fob) may
have a low or dead battery. In this situation a back up
method can be used to operate the ignition switch. Put
the nose side (side opposite of the emergency key) of the
Key Fob against the ENGINE START/STOP button and
push to operate the ignition switch.

That is the Question we are waiting to be answered. Other than the 1st post in the ordering thread being updated to show like it is available, Milous hasn't come out and answered our question on this yet...Hoping he finally will and give an ETA on this.

For what ever the reason; it's now a safety consideration considering how bright the led's are over incandescents. Boo on you Jeep!

Never really thought about that, and I don't have a clue if there is a manual way to get in and start it. I doubt there is for security/theft reasons.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

There is a key in the Keyfob that you can use to get into the car, it is in the 2014 Owners Manual (you can get from jeep.com). I explains it in there how to get the key out and start the car if the fob is dead.

In case the ignition switch does not change with
the push of a button, the RKE transmitter (Key Fob) may
have a low or dead battery. In this situation a back up
method can be used to operate the ignition switch. Put
the nose side (side opposite of the emergency key) of the
Key Fob against the ENGINE START/STOP button and
push to operate the ignition switch.

Same as what Jeepers stated before.

At the moment, no (USA). But, it WILL be available with the 3.0, 3.6 and 5.7 engines. And it is currently available to order in Canada with the 3.6L and 5.7L.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I am still looking for more info on the SRT Sepia Leather and the optional black wheels. I have seen pics of the leather but can't tell if it is a better quality than the black or other reason for the price. I haven't seen picks of the wheels-- thanks!

Nobody is actually getting anything yet. While it's true the order banks are open, there has been no sales launch. The vast majority of folks who will eventually buy a '14 GC don't even know there was a refresh. By the time they actually 'go on sale', I'll bet the available options will be pretty close to the '13s.

Of course with no HDD I've been spending the afternoon burning CDs to an
SD card. And I'm still waiting for my salesman to get back to work.
