Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I have been debating the Overland vs the Summit and the various differences and besides the obvious looks has been confusing for me. I decided to go through all of the great information posted on here and WK2Jeeps and list the features only available on the Overland or the Summit but not both to be able to compare easier. There are probably mistakes but I figured I would share it with others that may be going through the same thing I am. If this is useful and you have any other ideas please let me know or feel free to update and post it back.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

really helpful posts everyone...been tracking for months now. About to pull trigger on ordering a limited but need interior color advice. Thinking either max steel or granite for exterior, btw. Wife like beige interior. I'm indifferent. We're in DC so beige would be less HOT in summer (no, I'm not getting vented seats...), but Black would match exterior better. And we have an infant, so stains are a realistic concern. Need advice!

I decided on max steel.

Even if it's harder to clean, your interior color has been decided for you.

Be happy!

I debated the same ? all weekend. On the road I like the Granite, on the dealer lot I like the Max Steel. On Sat I when to to the dealer who had all the colors side by side. On Sun driving back from skiing, I drove kind of slow in the right lane and bet I was passed by just about every color 11-13 JGC. This sold me on the Granite.

I don't like black but really like the metallic look of the Max Steel. I thought the Granite would be too close to silver, but seems darker. Anyway it all comes down to preference and feeling so I'd say trust your gut.

Since you asked for advice... If you're going to have more than 1 kid, I'd get a mini-van

Correct.

You can get into the car, but won't be able to start it with that key.

MB calls it the "Valet Key"

Baiscally, you throw your pricey crap in the glove box, lock it, and take out this little key. Valet can move the car and such, but can't get into the glove box.

As for when the battery dies... well... I'm guessing it sucks big time. Maybe you can use the Mobile App to start and unlock the car?

I had someone try and break into the trunk of my E55, they ended up shredding the lock, but could not get in.

As a result, the key won't open the lock, you have to have the Fob.

So now, if the battery dies (in the car)... I am totally $#@!ed

You can. Just pop out the starter button and there's a conventional key slot behind it. Start using the mini key.

Yep. Done it a hundred times in my Challenger before they fixed the software that prevented the car from recognizing my key fob.

Interesting... I know in my car (not GC) when FOB's battery died I got screwed. After work, middle of winter, in the middle of cold and dark parking lot I'm trying to get into the car and ... nothing.I use the key to get into the car, I turn the key ... nothing ... just nothing happens. I would imagine this has something to do with immobilizer.

Luckily I was able to pull out the FOB's battery and I rubbed the battery against my coat for a few minutes. Put that back in and I guess it had enough juice to unlock the car and start the engine ...

Again, might be different with GC. The solution is to carry a spare FOB battery in your car just for this type of an occasion.
