Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Does anyone know if the recovery hooks are back or still deleted and will there be LED light kits to covert 2012-13s?

Hooks are back except Summit and SRT.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

While we're on the topic of recovery hooks, does Jeep supply anything to replace the hooks that are removed when adding 'tow group IV'?

If not, is there a preferred brand for a receiver mounted hook?

Snuke, you say the tow hooks are back, but is that just US spec, or for export as well - as we had the different specs for the '13 with the no tow hooks (as im sure your aware) with the whole crash thing. I havent seen anything stating export will get tow hooks but then I could have easily missed it.

I wasn't aware that we were specifically effected, I thought they came and went across the board.

No idea about Aus spec, and until some official Aus info comes out, I am personally not speculating on anything.
I haven't harassed local dealers yet, and will wait until the US have their official sales launch.

You lose the rear hook only because it mounts to the same point as the hitch. I personally have a receiver mounted shackle

Yes, each TRIM rolls down the same line, and is built to spec. Durango's included.. But it's a complicated setup, as there isn't just one line.. All the bodies follow each other for the entirety of the build, but there's multiple lines doing things even when a body isn't present. In Assembly you basically have Trim, Chassis, and Final.. And to some degree, they operate independant of each other. There's a lot to the whole process.. But in a way it's like putting a puzzle together in sections, then joining the sections to complete it...

Marlon could probably describe it better, bc that's his neck of the woods. I'm sleepy and therefore running short on good correlating analogies right now. Hope this helps..

I've got a receiver mounted hook that slides in instead of the ball mount if needed. I don't remember where I got it but it wasn't too hard to find.

Thanks. I had seen them, on line, but was wondering if there are any brands to stay away from. The price range is pretty wide.

All but the cheapest will be fine ...that being said mine came from Tractor Supply and its identical to the one my brother in law has from Northern Tool which is the same as the one his son got from harbor freight...if your going to do serious off roading spend more money and buy a forged one but for occasional use any will do...for that matter a ball with a 1" shank and the receiver to go with it works for that scenario provided your tow strap has loops and not hooks.

If I had to guess mine probably came from Harbor Freight. I got it because I had heard using the ball was a no-no in case it detached as it could then be pretty dangerous.

That's why I said 1" ball and strap with a loop instead of hook...you don't want to be around if that hook goes flying around
