Then you are probably right. 150 x 3 x 2 shifts = 900....That's alot of vehicles to put together..

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

We run 10 hour shifts, not 8.

So, 600.

Actually, 602.

So.. 1204 per day, 6-7 days per week. That's an average. We could make more, or less. Depends on how the line runs.

I'm talking total output per day. The line can be adjusted in any direction... We could theoretically make nothing but WKs, or nothing but WDs. Right now is a weird mix of 50/50 which I have never seen before.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

And it currently is running at 600 2014 WK2's per day, or is that about the max you've ever done per day for 2013s, 2012s, etc.? Because I think Scott said you're not up to full speed yet or something?

CDs are less convenient in a lot of regards, but they also don't require any extra steps or time if you have a CD player. Just pop it in and you're good. (Personally I think there's also something "special" about a physical CD album.)

What if right after you buy a CD you feel like listening to it in the car on the ride home/to wherever you're going? What if a friend or family member is going somewhere with you and they bring some CDs with to listen to because they assume that like everyone else you have a CD player in their car? If you don't have a CD player you're out of luck unless you want to go home, pop the CD(s) into your computer, and then do the transfers, then get back in the car at some point later on.

That's why I paid for the option.
I agree with you 100%

Full speed? No, we're not. We are having those issues I predicted a few pages back with parts. Shortages, ensuring quality builds, etc.

I do know this, there's no shortages of *my* parts. I have thousands of carpets!

I buy CD's mostly now for their archival quality. Use the Cloud now for day-to-day access to my purchased library of 10,000+ songs, and Pandora/TuneIn for most of my "radio" service. I'm 64 y.o., so it's not like this is just a new Millenium generation trend!

I am glad that car manufacturers still offer the option of a CD player. But I think this will be a less-and-less sought after option. Not going to buy it on my 2014 Jeep. Chrysler put LOTS of development time into the UConnect system for their new products, and it looks to me like they have done a good job in development of a info/media/integration system that will be a useful base platform for quite a few years.

Must be a generational thing? I'm 31 and I haven't bought a CD in years. Probably getting close to a decade. I buy plenty of digital music, but no CDs. None of my friends own CDs. A few own vinyl, but everything else is digital. My friends expect that their music collection which fits on their phone will be wirelessly available on road trips, or they can plug it in if we don't feel like pairing the phone.

I can totally understand why it's an option for you old school people, but I get why it's not standard anymore.

I have a 6 disk changer in my Trailblazer and have had only 1 CD in it in 4 yrs. I haven't bought a CD since 2002 and I have over 300 of them. I've converted them all over to my computer and use my MP3 player or iPod/iPhone to listen to music. With people streaming music or using Sirius/XM Radio, there really isn't a need for CD players anymore. I can't remember the last time I saw a portable CD player..Wait, do they even make them anymore?

My wife's Sonata has a 6 disk changer in it and she never uses it, only her iPod or Sirius/XM for music

Remember that Sergio said that Chrysler was going to be the forefront of technology and vehicles..Guess he is trying to live up to it.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

What is the device in the very center of the lower grill opening in the air dam that looks sort of like a fog light or some other lens? It only seems to be in Summit, Overland, and maybe in some Limited photos?

I haven't been able to figure this out.

Thanks- Eric
