If I recall correctly, it was stated that this was a Summit, (possibly) heading for China.

Why does China always get things first (other than they usually make everything there)?

So they can clone it

But, they weren't the first, many U.S. pre-production models were built ahead of the ones being sent for testing to China, Germany and other export markets.

What happens to pre-production models after they've served their purpose? Driven by Home Office management? Sold? Stored somewhere? Turned into parts and sold off? Other? If you can't say, that's fine.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Half the time the door ding numpers don't work because the other car doors don't line up with them. I've had both my cars for 13 and 10 years with only one ding.(wife had it and didn't park as requested) The ding was way up high on the door where the bar wouldn't have helped. I'll go without.

I've noticed more and more car makers ditching the body side door moldings. Probably because it's cheaper for them. I'm fine with that, because I think cars tend to look better without them. Less clutter in my eyes.

I agree with you on this! I have a few dings because I allowed my father to drive and he doesn't park like I would like him to. Other people are just haters and have no decency or respect for others and their property. So i can do without them as well. It looks much cleaner anyway!

They're scrapped.. They can't be registered. Sounds like waste, but the info gained from them is invaluable. So the end justifies the means in a way. They're often misinterpreted to be mere rolling advertisements that tease enthusiasts and stir up excitement. Contrarily, they're a rolling research lab that would never survive the rigors of what the final production units are enhanced to endure. Just look at how many recalls there are on actual production vehicles. Now take those problems in conjunction with 100s of other problems that the engineers correct over the course of testing. THAT'S a pre-production vehicle. Want one? Lol...

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

a) Are options on most cars now, about $200 & 10 minutes for a dealer to install.
b) Give it 40 years or so, the prototypes will be the most valuable (if they survive)
c) Swartz Creek junkyard used to be famous for what could be found there.
