Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Milous has spoken and said we gave out to many tidbits in a timeframe...I guess my tidbit will have to wait for another time then..

Sorry I was gone so long, we had a few calls and Ice rescue training this evening (even more tomorrow, Oh Boy!!).

Sorry man, I'm not clear on what you're asking? Brilliance wise? Looks?..

How well it illuminates the road. I assume since they both use the projector lens the pattern should be the same.

It seems there are two possible variables, brightness and tint. If they are both the same brightness it just comes down to tint.

I won't go bonkers unless it's that a new special edition based off of the Overland trim level will have body color paint in place of most of the chrome; or a black-out style edition based off of the Overland.

Well no, you'll also see a difference in depth/distance of pattern. The lense will obviously shape the pattern, so you're correct in that it'll be the same pattern, but the intensity of the light will determine the distance forward and out of that common pattern. Brilliance isn't directly related to the spray distance of the lights. LEDs are a good example of this.. But that's another topic.

Anyway I'd say yes; 1.) hue (tint), 2.) intensity of illumination, which often is related to hue/tint, and 3.) distance/spray pattern of illumination. Which again, ISN'T always directly related to 2. But in the case of HID lighting, they often go hand in hand.

Hope this helps.

HIDs are brighter than projectors. You will see much better at night with HIDs. I own a SHO with HIDs and a Terrain with projectors. Here in pitch black Montana at night , HIDs light the road significantly better.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I know Gigi-boy raised it and I have too without noticing any response.
With regards to the Summit. Can anyone define exactly what you get with respect to the Ambient lighting. My reason for asking (again) is because I had actually purchased an MY12 which fell through due to the dealer ordering the wrong colour which I found out after waiting 5 months. Anyway, whilst waiting the arrival of that wrong car I imported the accessory "Ambient Lighting" from "Just Jeeps" in America. I have that box sitting next to me but don't know if it will be of any use to me now because I have read on this site somewhere that the Summit has Ambient lighting....however, it may not be as good as the Accessory I purchased. I am trying to consider whether I should still get the dealer to fit this accessory to my new car when I know what I am getting......we still have no confirmation here in Australia if we are getting the Summit AND an Overland OR just the Overland (which actually was a Summit up to and including the MY13). I hope that makes sense but there are a lot of very confused and frustrated Jeep fans here in OZ. Now thats a genuine bonafide question not just something to get one post closer to 10K.
