Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I know a few people have requested pics or video of JNAP at work. I found a couple on the interwebs. As far as play by play, you'll have to ask someone else.

Another Aussie member here also waiting impatiently for more details on the export models. Ordered an MY13 Overland (which over here has nearly all options standard), dealer has ordered MY14 Overland instead as MY13 Overland CRD's in AUS are right now more or less non-existent. Anxious to know if i'm gonna end up with a stripped down MY14 Overland (i.e option wise when compared to AUS spec MY13 Overlands).

Maybe Milous can take a look at some of the RHD build sheets that have been created to see how they compare, might give us some hint of what to expect.

With regards to the Summit. Can anyone define exactly what you get with respect to the Ambient lighting.
hi webber you have probably seen this from the press pdf.

Overland models have several modern luxury touches not typically found on high-end imports. A
standard stitched-leather instrument panel and available open-pore wood are two of the prominent
interior design cues, and add a distinct touch of modern luxury. Wood trim is also found on the top
portion of the leather-wrapped steering wheel. A final touch is the addition of rear-seat footwell and rear
door-pocket ambient lighting.

seems ambient lighting is mentioned in front and rear footwells from that doc.

In this video, obviously a body is almost fully built, but this particular station is for auditing. Those robots are taking pictures of specific welds, and comparing them with pictures of (near) perfect welds stored in their memory. Any "fails" don't automatically get to make that 90-degree left turn to proceed to the next station. They get inspected by a human, one of my old jobs, and pulled off the line at the end there, for repair if necessary. Another old job of mine. Other times they're given a pass if the human decides against the robot's judgement and says its ok.

There are 100s of these man/robotic audit stations throughout the Body Shop, that ensure everything is up to par.

Hi Osilaya,
I am also another Aussie member who has ordered a 2014 Overland CRD. I check this thread often for some hints from Milous as to what our vehicle specs will be. I do not expect the vehicle in Perth until probably July.

With regards to the Summit. Can anyone define exactly what you get with respect to the Ambient lighting. My reason for asking (again) is because I had actually purchased an MY12 which fell through due to the dealer ordering the wrong colour which I found out after waiting 5 months. Anyway, whilst waiting the arrival of that wrong car I imported the accessory "Ambient Lighting" from "Just Jeeps" in America. I have that box sitting next to me but don't know if it will be of any use to me now because I have read on this site somewhere that the Summit has Ambient lighting....however, it may not be as good as the Accessory I purchased. I am trying to consider whether I should still get the dealer to fit this accessory to my new car when I know what I am getting......we still have no confirmation here in Australia if we are getting the Summit AND an Overland OR just the Overland (which actually was a Summit up to and including the MY13). I hope that makes sense but there are a lot of very confused and frustrated Jeep fans here in OZ. Now thats a genuine bonafide question not just something to get one post closer to 10K.
The only people that could give that exact information would be the few that went to the Autoshow or maybe Marlon/Chevy. Gigi always as for exact information about the 2014 that pretty much no one has information on. Look at it as a perk that this is a new thing no matter how well it works. We've heard of this but no one (unless those mentioned before) has seen it yet..

Thanks Robo_70

When I purchased my MY12 in May last year (2012) which I didn't get due to a stuff up I imported from America the Ambient Lighting and the Summit Grille. As you know the MY12 Australian Overland was the same as an American Summit except it did not have the Summit Grille. It looks like I may now have a Summit Grille Accessory and an Ambient Lighting accessory to put on ebay.
The ambient lighting I purchased put various colours of lighting (you could change it) beneath the front footwells and the rear footwells (behind front seats). Any Aussies out their interested in some accessories for their My12's or My13's?......I just loved that MY12 summit grille which won't be needed on an MY14!

Yo Chevy and/or Marlon! How many miles are on the odometer when you ship 'em? Is there a driving of the vehicle QC check?

Also thanks to Snofire. (are you just getting up as we are all about to go to bed over here).
Gigi-boy does not know....he has been trying to find out through this site.
Hopefully this new Ambient lighting will be very nice. I am surprised you guys in the States are not aware of this ambient lighting because it was available to buy through your "Just Jeeps" site in America. It said it put lighting in the front and rear footwells and the cup holders.....and at the flick of a switch you could change the colour of the lighting. You guys are crazy about your Jeeps. It's a wonder their has not been mention of Just Jeeps before.

Hi Ausbrian.....June/July is what we have been told here on the Eastern side of the Country. It's past being a joke for us all over here. You, Robo_70, and lots of other Aussies are all putting in orders for cars (and the dealers are taking contracts). Many have signed contracts for "Overlands" thinking they are getting Summits and others have signed contracts for Overlands but certainly don't want a Summits. It could turn out to be a real mess. Chrysler has a right to inform dealers who are taking signed contracts for cars they don't know we are getting.
