Wish we got a powerpoint in the export models. Any chance of that for MY14?

Edit: is that what you call it in the States? Powerpoint? Power outlet?

Yes power outlet. I wonder if you guys don't because they would have to change the "outlet" style to each specific export. As I know some countries have different styles of plug ins.

I'd be happy with a US outlet and a $2 adapter

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Jeep seems to continue creating a tires problem for Jeep owners who want higher-end features with Off Road Adventure package. It seems that a "cool" off-road WK2 Jeep comes with 18-inch wheels, probably chosen for curb appeal, because 18-inch true off-road tires are rare or possibly do not exist.

I recently went through the tires challenge with my 2008 Liberty 4X4 Limited, which came with "upgraded" 18-inch wheels, but also Quadra-Track II, steel plates, etc. It's an off-road capable Jeep except for the tires.

The original tires were Goodyear Fortera HL, maybe an A/S tire, barely an A/T tire, certainly not a true off-road. They wore out pretty quickly.

Replacing turned out to be difficult, because (apparently) very few suitable tires are available in 18-inch size with the correct width/profile. Visiting/calling many area tires shops, I was told repeatedly that classic off-road Jeep tires are 16-inch, and that off-road tires are not available for 18-inch wheels! Even A/T tires are barely available.

The simple direct size match was a Michelin highway tire. Lacking any 18-inch off-road tires to consider, various tire shops tried to determine if an different profile A/T tire could work, but most were wider and Liberty has a very tight wheelwell. The only way to get a true off-road tire would be to buy the smaller wheels used on the "lesser" non-Limited Liberty. (Yep, I paid more for less...)

I ended up buying a 18-inch Yokahama tire that fits, probably an A/S or light A/T tread, but better quality than the original wimpy Fortera HL.

Now I'm shopping for a WK2 with ORII, and fear the same 18-inch tires fiasco will continue.

Michelin has the Michelin LTX A/T2 in 265 - 60 -18, they list it as an on/off road tire with an off road rating of 10 out of 10. The Latitude is rated at 3.

My MDX came with Latitudes, and the MDX doesn't even pretend to be an off road vehicle.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Even though you have 18" rims doesn't mean you have to stay with the exact same tire size. On my TB, only tires I can really get are street/highway. If I want a more aggressive tire I have to change sizes. Jeep isn't out to please everyone cuz not everyone goes off road. Think of how many times you see people with all the bells and whistles but not 1 time do they ever go off road. People with Wranglers all decked out with Off road gear just to look cool but never go off road. When you get your vehicle, make a dealer trade for some better tires. just a thought.

I have not done the research yet, but if there are no clearance issues, I'm planning to go with 265/65/18 BFG A/T KOs. I had a similar issue with my Tundra and the goofy stock size and ended up going the same amount bigger with no issues whatsoever with respect to handleing/braking/acceleration/etc. Truck actually looks better too with the more aggressive meats on it.

If there are clearance issues, BFG makes a Rugged Terrain in the stock 265/60/18 size. It will be that or the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revos, which get excellent reviews from the Landcruiser crowd.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

it seems like tires just keep getting larger and larger....I can recall when jeep Gr Ch had an 18" and that was a big deal....and I recall owning a Chrysler Pacifica with 19" tires which looked huge...and now 20" tires on the GR Ch....those are pretty massive tires for the Jeep....not sure whether to go with the 18" or the 20"....I can recall someone telling me that a bigger tire is always better....

....P.S. even my dinky 17" low profile tires on my VW wagon are not cheap either....my flat tire will cost me $280 for the tire from the dealer, plus labour plus tax...about $350 out the door...ouch...that is one expensive nail hole.......I am wondering if these smaller, low profile tires are more apt to get punctured from road crap than larger off road tires???

Aftermarket 12VDC-to-240AC inverters are readily available worldwide, with varying load capacities. Jeep likely nixes the 115VAC power outlet for export because most of the world outside North America uses 220-240VAC. Plug types, however, are a non-issue, as cheap plug adapters are available at airports and countless other facilities.
