Hello Milous, Any more news for us down under? the shroud of mystery that Jeep is trying to create here is frustrating to say the least.

Does anyone know:
- What is the resolution of the RA3/RA4?
- is the RA3/RA4 captive touch or resistive touch?

Bonus question - any idea the resolution of those rear monitors?

Roughly speaking, 80/20. It varies each month, but here are the exact production numbers for the past 4 months:

October 2012
WK - 20,653 = 80.12%
WD - 5,127 = 19.88%

November 2012
WK - 19,394 = 76.12%
WD - 6,087 = 23.88%

December 2012
WK - 17,540 = 79.28%
WD - 4,582 = 20.12%

January 2013
WK - 14,616 = 80.52%
WD - 3,538 = 19.48%

Resistive touch... can't find any RA3/RA4/DVD resolution specs yet, Chrysler is not too keen about revealing such details. The closest I could find for the DVD monitors are the new 9" Blu-Ray versions used in the minivans, which are VGA 640x480 (increased from QVGA 320x240).

What a bummer. That sounds like a real buzz kill to me. The advantage is that you could use gloves or other objects to act on the screen. The disadvantage is, well, everything else.

Edit: More buzzkill. 640x480 on an 8.4" screen? That's just gross. I hope it's not true.

In your link is says;

"and a core “head unit” that houses the CD/DVD drive"

That's not the unit we're getting. Ours, as discussed, will not be the one housing a disk player.

Why in today's modern electronics world would Chrysler even consider mating a Blu-ray player to a DVD resolution screen? 640 x 480 in 2013 on a $2000 system is pathetic.

^ what he said...the screen doesn't even come close to the resolution required for Bluray ...essentially you could plug in a betamax and get the same picture...

Think Outside !- No Box Required.

I hope you're right. Can anyone who's seen the unit in person comment on it? It's bad enough that it's a resistive screen...
