Choosing among trim lines for any vehicle is almost always an exercise in compromise. An ŗ la carte menu would be great, but probably is not practical for manufacturers. As to the 2014 Grand Cherokee -- I really like the the Overland interior. I like the Overland rims. I'm OK with the chrome door handles. I think chrome tow hooks are silly. I wish I could delete the chrome on the mirrors; they cross beyond my PCC (personal chrome coefficient). But that's just me. In the end, I ordered an Overland.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Everybody's needs and desires are different. My Summit gives me a "luxury" vehicle that I can enjoy during all my business travel and also can handle my towing needs better than other options I might have considered, including in the highway fuel economy department. And I like how it looks. A lot. But the next dude will hate the color and the chrome...which is kewel. That's why there are great choices when buying and nice customization ability post-purchase.

Too much Chrome? Cheap? I don't know what you could possibly be thinking about!

I do like some chrome, makes cars look classy but not too much. I think the Overland has just the right amount of chrome, I would however have either chrome door handles or chrome mirrors, but not both.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

On the Overland I would rather have a chrome strip instead of individual letters for the GRAND CHEROKEE on the sides. Body colored mirrors for sure. I currently have chrome door handles, but on a white car, so they don't really stand out. I'll see soon enough how they look on Maximum Steel.

The Overland kind of looks like somebody said, where can we stick a little chrome.

On the other hand, if it was a Jeep with lots of chrome, like it was built with chrome in mind, that would be great. If ORA II was available on a Summit, my order would be for a Summit in Deep Cherry / Black.

Maybe next time they will configure a car the way I want it.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Here's a long shot. I currently have a tsx. The color is carbon gray. I've seen a picture of granite that makes it look pretty close but haven't seen it in person. Anybody know and have seen both colors in person and not just in pictures?

I'm with you. I think if I could, I would get the base Laredo with Quadra Drive 2, trailer Tow, and carpet delete option. A vinyl floor to sweep out now and again, with a mopping down a couple times a year would suit me fine. I don't understand the Escalade stuff and bling. You got the Summit, Overland, Trailhawk, etc. Where is the Farmer version, like the commercial? Not everyone wants the bling and gizmos, after all it is a JEEP. Some of us just want to throw the dogs and gear in the back, and get dirty in the woods. I don't have enough room inside the truck, hence looking for an SUV. I would like to buy this made in Detroit vehicle, with an 8sp. and penstar motor, but I'm beginning to question the sense and restrictions of these option packages. I know I'm new here, I apologize for the rant, but what the heck not all of us want to (or can) spend 50K on a vehicle. Maybe I should be waiting for the new Cherokee.

I'll drink to that!.. Oh wait, I'm at work. (Wouldn't wanna wind up on Fox News. )

But you are precisely the kinda guy I spoke of many pages ago, that values the truck for what it is, not what new junk they put in it to make it compete better with cars that can't even hold a candle to it.

Oh and FYI; the Paul Harvey poem was in the Ram commercial. But I agree, there should be a dummed down outdoorsman's Grand Cherokee as well.. I'm still hoping for a Carhartt edition.
