Thanks, yes I agree that does seem high for only up to 75,000 miles. I would probably skip it for that and take my chances.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

Can you buy the extended warranty later or do you have to purchase it at the same time you buy the vehicle? 15 yrs and 175k miles sounds like an awesome warranty period... especially for the CRD.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I don't believe the warranties are added on -- you get 3 years/36,000 miles from the manufacturer. You can extended that to 10 years/75,000 miles for the $2400 cost.

The 5 years/100,000 is only powertrain.

See from chryslerwarranties.com : "When does coverage under my Chrysler extended warranty begin and end?
On all New Vehicle Chrysler Service Contracts, plan coverage starts on the day you purchase the plan. The plan term starts at the ORIGINAL IN-SERVICE DATE OF THE VEHICLE AND AT ZERO MILES, not upon expiration of the New Vehicle Limited Warranty"

I bought my 2012 Overland last May and added the lifetime warranty for $2900 which was discounted down from $3500 I think. I have never bought an extended warranty before but with all the electronics I thought it might pay off. I will pay $100 for each visit after the manufacturer's warranty expire to fix all the issues at that time no matter how many. I have learned the hard way a bad airbag sensor can be $2000 alone in a Chrysler.

So for the bumper to bumper part is it 3yr/36k + 10yr/75K ?

The price of the warranty is negotionable and can be addef after the sale as long as you haven't ran out ofthe initial wwarranty coverage.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

You must purchase the extended warranties before 4 years/48,000 miles. Basically if you plan on having the vehicle for 7-10 years or more, its probably worth it to buy the warranty --- but most will get a new vehicle before then.

Think Outside !- No Box Required.
This is incorrect. It DOES NOT add on... all warranties (and extended warranties) are based from the original delivery date and zero miles.

I priced a "lifetime" warranty $100 deductible for a 2013 GCL @ around $2200.00 here: Chrysler extended warranty, Factory backed extended warranties for Dodge, Jeep and Chrysler vehicles

I've read that if you get a quote and don't act on it right away they start emailing discount codes after a period of time. You can get a full coverage warranty if purchased before the 36mo warranty expires.

There are tight restrictions on the transfers of lifetime warrantys.

Re: 2014 Grand Cherokee - Features & Changes

I recently paid $2185 for Lifetime Maxcare ($100 deductible) service contract on my MY12 Summit from an online dealer. That's significantly less than my dealer wanted for the same contract.

I guess I didn't read close enough . I apologize for any confusion ...but still the bumper to bumper coverage extended to three times the time period and over double the mileage for $2400 is cheap...but then again I buy them and drive them until the wheels fall off.
